Reminds me of an old time radio joke where a clothes merchant is selling a suit for $10,000. He is ask how business is going and he says not well but he isn't worried as he really only has to sell one suit to turn a profit.

On the Spitfire complete, the mind boggles. Am I reading right 1.4 million samples? I'd bet that when the millennium turned there weren't 1.4 million samples in the world. 2.7 terrabytes uncompressed. Wow.

I'm waiting for a 25% off coupon before getting either one of them.

Ironic, good friend is wanting to do some home made drum samples in a drum rompler.

Researched some stuff for the guy and led to looking at old sf2 libraries, drums and others. No articulations, just velocity, but forgot how much excellent material is available. The flutes are not quite as good as Mesh's choice, but less expensive and will do the job if love and inspiration are there.

I can get an LP or a the lower price PRS, a Music Man bass, RME unit, almost a transmission overhaul, for the price of that.  It's geared for those making money off their work.

So how does it compare to EWHO?  EW is more affordable to the hobbyist.  I guess this would be one of those bragging rights thing.

Right Kite,

It may be state of the art (whatever that is). Where is the dividing line between utility and lunacy.

If I got a hard on hit in the mix, my newly old rediscovered sf2 flutes will do the job, no matter how demanding the audience. If I ain't got a hit, can get into the savings and pay twice as much for something twice as good and have nothing ultimately to show for it except for a terabyte clog on the hard drive and a roof that still needs to be repaired..

So happy I chose the flute when I was 7.

I started messing around with the Nu Disco genre and going through the string libraries I have and found GPO5 fit the bill.

You can get a decent flute for that price or even a budget alto flute.   You can get at least 2 supreme flute overhauls for that.

A solid silver one for $1700 should work.

Might be cheaper to hire the real thing if you have the room and microphones

I don't know if you use Kontakt John, but I made a 900 sample flute from CC samples that I think sounds OK and costs a little less than flutes of fire...
