I'm attempting to use the Split Note To Tracks Cal program, but, its not working. Here is what I'm trying to do:

I've record a drum track with Session Drummer, in  Sonar, with all Note data recorded onto just one track. I want to use that particular track, as my source track, and then, split the note data to other MIDI tracks, but, I'm getting error messages. I'm thinking its because, the Session Drummer track is not a MIDI track. Is there a way to do this?

What error messages are displayed?

Its saying "can't split, or send note to requested track". I've done it before, but now I'm working with X3 and addictive drums, so I'm wondering if I'm putting in the right" channel" when it asks for it. Haha help! This has got to be something simple.

Not a problem with the channel (or port which do not matter so leave them at default values) but the First Destination Track. Make sure to add one to the First Destination Track when running the script on an instrument track.

FYI, this forum is for older pre-X series versions of SONAR. The forum above this one is for X series SONAR.

What do you mean add one to the destination track? I'm confused?

The script has prompt for "First Destination Track", if the value in the prompt is 2 change it to 3.

I tried it again, but, still getting this error message indicating that it can't make the split. Just curious, and I know this sounds a bit wierd, but, I have my soft synth track on track 25 and I have 26 tracks. Should I create several midi tracks to be located directly below track 25 to "catch" the note data? Or, would Sonar, just create new tracks to host the data, separately?

Don't create the target MIDI tracks in advance, just pick a higher number (say 50) as the "First Destination Track", the tracks will actually be created with the next available track number.

The issue is instrument tracks. CAL sees instrument tracks as 2 tracks when SONAR counts them as 1 track. This can also mess with the Source Track prompt too but the error indicates a Destination Track problem.

You could also split all the instrument tracks in the project. Then the script should not be as confusing to use because the track numbers shown in the project will be the same as the script sees. Or just pick a very high "First Destination Track".

I tried it again, and everything worked, but, I couldn't hear anything play back. Its as if, I've chosen the incorrect play back channel. I would think it would have to be either channel 1, or 10, because, those are the two channels a sound signal was transmitting on. Thoughts?

Having to make a quite a few guesses about the project. Maybe an output assignment issue. The channel should not matter but feel free to mess with it. Now that the tracks are split out, it is easy enough to quick group and change anything on the track headers. Might be a good idea to ditch instrument tracks if you plan on using CAL. CAL support was dropped before instrument tracks were introduced in SONAR.
