You have to make sure that the target destination track starts at a number higher than your last track. The CAL will overwrite existing tracks if you don't (and there are no other errors). After splitting, you will need to change the Midi out on the new tracks to point to AD. Also, like scook suggests, I would recommend using the synth rack rather than simple instrument tracks, if that is what you are doing.

I finally was able to successfully split the notes, but, the playback is the only setback at the moment. I'm using the addictive drums 2 that came with X3. I was wondering if perhaps that may be the root cause? I'm thinking so. Thoughts?

As Steve said earlier this is the forum for Sonar 8.5 and earlier so next time use the X series forum for more action. I know it's confusing as they seem to refuse to change the title of this forum to reflect this. After all you are using Producer or Studio right?

I don;t use cal scripts any more. here's my method of splitting a drum track.

First I never use instrument tracks. Always "insert midi track" and use those. You can copy paste the one you have into a fresh midi track to make life easier. Make sure to assign the output to the drum synth now.

Now take this midi track and clone it once for each part your going to use.
Lets say for example 5 parts. This will also pre assign the output to your drum synth.

Now re- name each of those tracks the part you will end up with
Track 1- Kick
Track 2-Snare
Track 3 -Toms
Track 4 - Hi Hat
Track 5 - Special

Now open each in turn in Piano roll and using the piano GUI on the left highlight the notes you don't want and delete them. Leaving only the note(s) you want in that track.
Done.

Also make sure any midi track has assigned an output to a synth, otherwise there is no sound. And for drums this is normally set to channel 10.

I don't have Addictive drums but most drum sample players require loading a drum kit or there is no sound. Open the GUI for it and see if there is sound when you hit a drum.
