Hiya, ive just installed windows vista 64 bit ultimate, so i installed sonar 7 64bit edition and when i load it up it simply says there are no asio devices found. i have used this audigy platinum for a while now on vista 32bit so i installed the 32bit version of sonar (on vista 64) and asio works great, however i would like to get the 64 bit version working so i can access more of my memory. i know the audigy is a crap aduio card but its all i could afford at the time and before i spend money on something more decent id like to know if anyone actually got a creative card working with 64bit sonar and 64bit vista, ive tried all the recent drivers etc, and updated to sonar 7.0.2

My guess is that this post will have a ton of people saying "You shouldn't be using a Soundblaster amateur card with a professional recording program. Go buy a real card like ___ or ___ or ___."

Since you are new, I will refrain from saying that. I will point out that pretty much no one on here uses Soundblaster other than noobs.

Also I am not sure that people have been as happy with 64 bit Sonar, not so much because of Sonar, but because of the lack of support for drivers in 64 bit mode.

My advice
Get a better sound card
Get rid of V64
Use 32
and Use it 2x as much.
It will even out.

thanks for your input, i kinow the soundblasters are crap cards for audio, i never intended to do any audio work but recently i started playing bass and have been uisng asio for the low latency to add effects while playing realtime bass etc, you are right though, now im taking it more seriously i should invest in a decent card for this, what do you guys recommend card wise?

For 64bit Vista drivers, you should go with these guys only. Motu, Edirol, RME, Echo. (Focusrite, may have some great 64bit vista drivers also) Dont go with any other manufacturer, other than the ones i listed or the ones that other members have listed and have been proven to work in 64bit Vista. Its important, because some vendors may say they have 64bit vista driver, but that does not mean they will work good. All drivers are written different, so stay with the proven ones..

If you don't have the latest drivers already then, here are the latest for your card (were released 17 July '08).

When you have set Sonar to use ASIO, on Sonar Options/Audio/Drivers -tab, have you enabled some I/O drivers related to your card? If you aren't then, try by disabling all from there and then add those Audigy related you need. You could also try by deleting the AUD.INI and then restarting Sonar ... and re-configure for ASIO.

Referring to this out-of-date list Cakewalk keeps on their site wasn't very wise ... AFAIK, Creative was with the 1st ones when we are talking 'bout Vista compatible drivers (though, were those working well for all SB features ... I doubt).

I have same problem.  I use windows 7 ultimate 64bit and Sonar x3  and SB0670 soundcard. I can record audio from Creative ASIO.  I don't use asio4all. Next is my solution.
 
1. Install Reason (demo or what ever, I try Reason 5).  Choose  Creative ASIO audio engine.
2. Run Reason with empty projest  first. His "Hardware Interface" shows what input works, sometimes they have different numbers  9, 10 or  11, 12.   Don't do nothing more here.
3. Run  Sonar. Switch it to use ASIO.  Now you can record audio from  Creative ASIO  input,  what is named "Stereo Creative ASIO  Line-In/Mic L".
 
Don't close Reason window, when Sonar works, You  lose all your connections!
Without Reason,  Creative ASIO doesn't work correctly in Sonar.
