Hi everyone,

I recently bought/downloaded an instrumental (wav file) from Traxsource.com.  I worked out the tempo using the Mixmeister application.  However, when I imported the wav into my new song folder in Sonar 5 and applied the tempo, it starts off in time but as the instrumental progresses, it goes out of time with my click-track.  This hasn't happened before.  A friend explained that this is common with funk instrumentals.  Can anyone help?  My friend explained that I would need to quantise the wav file but I'm not sure how to do that in Sonar 5?

Any help would be super-appreciated.

Peace.
D in London.

What you have to do is customize the tempo map to match the wave file. Audiosnap works well for this, but unfortunately that feature was introduced in SONAR 6. Without going to third-party software, your best bet is to use the tempo map. Calculate the tempo in shorter chunks rather than the entire wave, and draw in tempo changes to match each section.

Try reading up on the "Fit To Improvisation" feature. It's not very easy to use, but it does what you need. On the other hand I don't know whether it exists in Sonar 5.

I would not waste my time trying t use Sonar 5, Download the demo of X3 and try above recommendations.
