Even though I have been using CAKEWALK since it was called CAKEWALK, I was wondering if the following workflow is currently possible with SONAR X series.  When you have a submix (let's say drums) that have individual audio tracks for a well mic'ed kit.  I would like to be able to get a submix Console view (automatically) of only the tracks that are routed to the buss (DRUMS buss in this example).

Don't know about you but scrolling through individual audio tracks in a project looking for any of the tracks that are being sent to drum buss (especially if you are using multiple VSTi's for all the drum kit pieces), is on PITA.  Yes, I already use colors to help find them quicker but if there were 8 audio tracks being sent to a buss, wouldn't it be nice for SONAR to present you with a SUBMIX Console View of only the tracks routed to subject buss?

I guess that the bakers could make an additional feature for the console view to include automatic submix view which becomes populated wihen you put the buss into focus on the console view.

Does this exist already?  If so, can someone give me a hint on how to use this in SONAR?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

I thought the inspector already had that?

How about having color options? The fifty shades of grey isn't working.

In X3 you can use color to show what tracks go to which buss. You set the color of the buss say drums to red and all tracks going to that buss become red.

In addition to the colors I would think you could set up a Screen Set for this. If you had a consistent 'kit' and routing you could set that up as a Template then the Screen Set would be there whenever you created a project with that Template.

That would work but I like the implementation Jim suggested. An option to click on a buss and have only the tracks associated with that buss show up would be awesome!!!

Apparetnly there really isn't this capability in Sonar... I hope the bakers read this.... I agree, it would be awesome.

I have all my drum tracks in a track folder and they are all next to each other, so it is never a problem for me.

I also have multiple drum buses, and they too are all next to each other.  A bus for toms, cymbals, whatever, all feeding the main Drums bus.

Just curious as to why you would have them scattered?  (might make perfect sense, I am just curious).
