Hi. I`m wondering if anyone can help me. I am using Sonar x3 and my track input assign options have disappeared after my son used it!! He can`t remember what he did. I haven`t had a problem before. The output assign is fine. When I arm the track and go to assign an input, instead of the usual options of mono (left/right) stereo etc.. there is none. Selected track input series also is now a blank box!! Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I`m a newbie to all of this. I am recording through an alessis multimix8 usb fx interface, and have had no trouble before.

As you say you're a newbie, we'll start with the absolute basics...do the desired inputs show up under Input Drivers if you choose Edit > Preferences > Audio Devices? If they do appear, are they black or grayed out?

You may need to reinstall your audio device drivers. I've had that happen before.

Or make sure the interface is turned on before you start Sonar.... I hate that when it happens wish Sonar would warn me certain devices are no longer detectable, and allow me to switch them on before I continue to open a project.

Thanks for the reply. All that comes up is friendly name and driver name. No inputs available, and the colour inside the box is white..
Great song by the way! :-)

meh
In console view look at the Modules menu (above the first couple of tracks...Modules, Strips, Track, and Bus Menu's) and see if they are unchecked.  Happens to me occasionally.  Not sure why.

You need to shut down sonar. Turn your sound card (alesis) on, WAIT until Windows recognizes the Alesis, then turn Sonar on......

If you still do not see any inputs, then you need to run the wave profiler in the WDM driver mode. After that, try ASIO mode and WDM mode at different slider and buffer settings to see what works best for you.

Problem solved!!! Thanks for all the advice guys. It was really starting to stress me out as i`m addicted to making music! (even though it`s a bit of a relationship breaker at times..I think my girlfriend was hoping it would stay broken!! ) In the end it was the module box and in/out was unchecked. Embarassing noob mistake!! Thanks Rafone! I got to listen to a couple of cool tracks as well that were posted on here, so win win!...and spend some much appreciated QT with my girl...pity thats all over now!
Happy music making!!
Thanks again,
Ru :-)
