Just a cheeky heads up....they're on sale from the manufacturer for $350 a pair this weekend....from what I've heard they're fantastic little monitors, ideal for a small room. Don't often see these on sale.

I picked up a pair during their last sale. They are a fantastic set of monitors. Such an upgrade over my old M-Audio BX8s (which have since been moved to music room "PA" duties). I can hear so much more detail in my mixes than I was able to before.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a moderately priced pair of monitors. All of the reviews I've read say that they are close to the best pair of monitors under $1k. I cannot validate that statement since I haven't done side by side comparisons with all the competition, but they definitely fit the bill for me.

I will throw in that I too have the D5s and they are dy-no-mite.  Mine seemed to really benefit from a little breaking in (no need to start that argument again....), but have been wonderful otherwise. I highly recommend!

Any monitor mixing I do has to be at a pretty low level so I thought they'd be ideal for that. They don't go any lower than 50Hz so I guess I could eventually add a sub? Until then, I can always keep checking the subs through my ATH-M50's and the VRM box. I've also had ARC2 sitting in the box for weeks so getting these will be my excuse to get off my ass and learn how to use it.

Get a sub for checking the low-end, not headphones.
Treat your room if you can.

If you can't treat your room, the good news is that headphones take room acoustics out of the equation. The bad news is that most consumer-oriented headphones hype the bass to one degree or another, so it's hard to know what the bass really is doing.
