Friends, do not joke too much about Russian hackers... At least not before you make a backup of your disk
At the time I was in Uni, any legal software was priced more than junior programmer monthly salary... And these programmers was not bad, counting each Hz of Soviet build 8086 to write fast programs. In Assembly, sometimes directly in codes. Hacking and writing (good!) viruses was the way to learn the job. "West software industry" has switched to "rapid development" much early, once computer price become comparable with programmers monthly salary, so no reason to write optimized programs since that requires too expensive people and takes too long.
I mean most "hardcore" west programmers are over 60 years old now, while Russian programmers with the same background are still in game...
