Actually, Hal Douglas, the voiceover announcer for the "In a world..." movie trailers, died in March. So I guess the Cakewalk voiceover guy should look out for that job opening.
Don LaFontaine is often credited as the "in a world..." guy. But he's dead too, so neither can comment.
But more to the point...Windows laptops often include "enhancements" that boost bass, include EQ presets, and do other violence to audio. You have to dig deep into sound > properties > more stuff > advanced > more advanced stuff > the work of tonedeaf software designers > ways to make stuff sound bad > advanced > properties of bad stuff, and turn everything off. the only one I ever found useful was enabling level normalization for Netflix.
