Thanks for everyone's help.

I tried what scook suggested. I moved that file, ran the X3e patch and then tested the EQ. The results were odd. The EQ opened but when I went to move the frequency nodes, the nodes disappeared. I put the file back in its original placed, open sonar and during the scan it said it found one new plug-in.... I am sure it was the one I just moved.

I then did what sharke said and it didn't work either....

I am going to move the file again that scook described and simply reinstall X3 and see if that solves the problem. If not I will call tech support tomorrow.

I really appreciate everyone's help.

Scook, I just noticed your most recent post. What other vst path would there be?

Thanks

Usually a second copy would not be a problem. It would take an active effort on your part to create a copy of the PC modules and place them in the VST scan paths specified in Preferences > File > VST Settings or in a folder under the existing PC modules path. I only mentioned it as it is a possibility and was mentioned in the past when solving this issue.

If you are going to reinstall X3, which sounds like a good idea, make sure it is a clean re-install. Run the uninstall
process, remove the registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X3
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\X3
, double check that the old PCS-GlossEQM.dll is gone. Then reinstall X3, apply the X3e patch. Although probably unnecessary if it has already been performed. reset and rescan your plug-ins http://www.cakewalk.com/S...ommended-for-Upgraders one more time.

Ok I give up for the night. I moved the .dll file from the directory, reinstalled sonar, added the x3e patch and got the same error. I did not do a clean uninstall first because I was already installing it when I saw your post above. How in the world could sonar pick up in a previous version of the EQ when I moved that .dll file? Urgh

Tomorrow I will do an uninstall and a clean install.... I certainly hope that solves this.

Thanks again.

I had this once, but it was during X3b or c I think, and I haven't been able to reproduce.
I don't use the ProChannel EQ at all anymore.

Sounds like you may have another copy of the eq on your hard drive. Do you have both the 32 and 64 bit versions installed? I would suggest you do a windows search and see if there is more than one copy of the PCS-GlossEQM.dll file on your hard drive. be sure to search the hidden files and folders.

When you ran the installers did you use the run as administrator command and disable the AV temporarily?

Tom,

Thanks for your response.  To my knowledge, I only have the 64 bit version installed.

I will do a search to see if that file is anywhere else as well.

I did not install this software as adminastrator.

Finally, I don't understand what you mean when you asked did I disable AV?  Can you explain what you mean?

Thanks for your help!

AV = anti-virus, as mentioned in post #6. Run as administrator seems to be pretty important.

Yes as Craig said av is antivirus. If you right click on the installer a menu will appear just choose the "run as administrator" option.

I spoke with tech support yesterday and they offered a couple solutions.  To this point, I have only had time to try to replace the the .dll file with the one they sent and it did not work... basically I experienced the same problem as when I totally removed the .dll.  I could open the EQ but not edit the nodes... so no progress.     The instructions about the C++ files makes me a little nervous and I thought I would ask you guys about it before I went through the process...  I don't want to alter files that will impact other probrams etc.  Also, the guy at tech support was unfamiliar with this issue.  Here is his email:

Hi Joe,
Thank you for contacting Cakewalk.
I recommend that you re-install your Microsoft C++ Redistributable Libraries. Many third-party applications will install these so sometimes the libraries can get skewed as multiple versions exist on the same computer. This may be why things are running smooth on one computer but not on another. It might not be SONAR at all, but more so the C++ libraries. Please do this:
Go to Start > All Programs > Programs and Features and to uninstall any Microsoft C++ Redistributable Packages listed. Afterwards, download these packages directly from Microsoft and re-install them. I have listed the most common Redistributable packages below. If you’re on a 32-bit operating system, I'd get the first three. If you’re on a 64-bit operating system, the second three. If you run both 32-bit and 64-bit SONAR on a 64-bit operating system, install them all.
For 32-bit operating systems or 32-bit programs on 64-bit operating systems:
For 64-bit operating systems:
The Visual C++ Redistributable 2012 page contains installers for both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679. You'll be downloading three files: vcredist_x86.exe, vcredist_arm.exe and vcredist_x64.exe. You'll only need to run the vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe.

Additionally, you will find a new .dll file attached for the Quad Curve EQ. Upon downloading, please replace it with the initial one in your Cakewalk Shared Utilities > Internal folder. If you continue to run into issues, please let me know.

Any thoughts onthe above?

Thanks for everyone's help!
