got revalver free from xln, was working fine until win 8 update yesterday. now, any project w/revalver won't load and crashes sonar (x3e) and sony vegas refuses to start.

tried a new dl and install, same deal, had to uninstall it for sonar and vegas to work properly. notified peavey, got no response.

anybody else see this?

edit: peavey got back to me. had me uninstall, delete peavey folder too, reinstall. failed twice (crashed sonar, vegas wouldn't run). the guy asked me to try again, and now, third time the charm, it once again works. i have no clue either way...

First try reset and rescan in the plugin manager.

Is this Windows 8, or 8.1?

john, i'll try to rescan later, but vegas won't start at all. another case of ms funking things up. peavey is unresponsive.

Vegas, Sound Forge and Sonar are all working well for me.  Check on your correct OS version as Win 8.1 is the latest, and a lot of drivers changed between 8 and 8.1.1  It has been six months since 8.1 came out, so your product companies should have the 8.1 drivers.

I just loaded Revalver into Vegas Pro 13 and it worked as it should. And I loaded it into X3e pro and it same thing it  worked.

I have Windows 8.1.1 Pro. 64 bit.

I believe Windows is so determined to get people to update to 8.1 that starting in June, all future updates will need to be applied to 8.1.

[I just went through a Windows 8 nightmare at Gibson regarding the FBX/LPX editor...it's working now and the patch is posted, but it was a major hassle.]

haven't been able to upgrade to 8.1. two ms techs spent hours and couldn't get it to install, and the closest they could come was "bad driver ." which one, or how to find it, they don't know.

i heard ms was going to continue to support 8. i believe that my problem is because i bought a pc with win 7 installed, upgraded in-place to 8. now their upgrade won't upgrade in-place again. i'd have to wipe the system clean and install a clean copy of win 8, then try to go to 8.1. i have 3 versions of sonar with all associated add-ons, and 3 versions of vegas. the pc is 2 years old. i can surely get another year out of this box before having to start all over...

if peavey doesn't respond, as i'm sure they won't, i'll have to live without revalver. sad...

I upgraded 3 PC's from Windows 7 to 8.0 to 8.1 to 8.1.1 and one of them refused to upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1 even after a day of scanning the upgrade logs, the internet, using the upgrade assistant, removing tons of stuff, repairing everywhere, and just would not budge. I've seen this with another PC as well and it seems to be quite a common situation.

In the end I did a clean install of Win 8 and the updates worked after that. Still 3 days of installing software I was not a happy bunny. Works great now. Another gotcha is that after upgrading to windows 8.1.1 please make sure you are using the latest network driver for your PC (seen it twice now whereby Windows leaves a buggy driver to do the work).
