Killer track. Love the guitar, and a really tight groove underneath.

I can only chime in with more of the same, regarding the playing and writing. Though my favorite aspect is the dramatic size of the mix; big and powerful. Nice job on all counts! Really nice.
I am curious as to the drums. What did you use? DI'd guitar and Bass? or ? Through what?
and the "hammered dulcimer?" off to the right side? What is that?

What's the lowdown bird's eye on this caper?

1) I am curious as to the drums. What did you use?

2) DI'd guitar

3) Bass

1) EZdrummer2. NOt at the DAW right now so I'm not sure what kit it was. I changed the kit once I had Jaymes' geeters
2) My mayte James will have to answer that juan
3) Bass->UA LA-610->RME UFX, ITB effects were most likely Sonitus Compressor & UAD Helios 69

Guitar is 1979 Les Paul Standard through Boss a BR-8 using a custom patch into (at that time) M-Audio 24/96 soundcard, into (at that time) Sonar 8. I used an EBow Plus on the middle section.

Thanks, both of you, for filling in the details. I'm even more impressed now! LOL
What kind of bass do you play, Ed?
Michael

Michael,

I have 5 basses.

1977 Alembic, American P-Bass w/Seymor Duncan Quarter Pound pup, Variax Modeling Bass, Kala Uke Bass and a custom made 5-String.

I'm not sure if this was the P-Bass or the Alembic, but I'm leaning towards the P-Bass from memory.

I'm wanting to get another P, but am quite happy with this Blacktop Jazz which has 2 P pups in it. I haven't tried a Quarter Pounder yet, and a buddy keeps harping on me to try a Area P, so I'm wishing I could try one somewhere.

I loved your tone on the track and it made me miss my '80 G&L L1000, which always sounded great once I started Auto-Tuning it. It had a soft neck and intonated poorly. After spending almost $500 on various "cures"(over 20 years), I sold it to a guy, my age (66) who "liked"(?!?!) high action and thought it was killer.

The Blacktop was a blowout deal, and will keep me till I find the perfect P.
Michael
