When I switched from being a guitarist to a bassist in bands, i noticed a huge power shift.
I assume it's because nobody paid attention to my bass playing, but shifted to fit my phrasing subconsciously.  Had I mentioned what I was doing, I'm sure they would have been upset.

This study cost NO tax dollars, but a few real Canadian ones, and made none.

On second thought, the most important member of the band is the one that owns the Sound system and truck to haul all the equipment around.

Even if you don't need a conga player and you don't have a van but he does, he's in like Flynn.

Until the hot chick singer comes along with a van and the conga player is busking (again).

The absolute position of power is: bass player with great bass rig, killer P/A, 7 mics and stands, new van, no wife and no kids.

Sorry to have to bring this up , the article missed the whole point of what Bass Players bring to the table in music.
The true Science behind it is real simple ...
Bass and the lower frequency's in popular music stimulate a woman's southern region
This has been know for years ....Under the right conditions Bass stimulates the Clit

Only in rock'n'roll music ... not anywhere else!

Let's try Beethoven and Mozart and see how important the bassists are ... sure!

What a bouillabaisse of crap!
