Moved to the US in 2012 and got the green card in 2015 IIRC.
 
We love it here, but it also allowed me to discover how very Canadian I really was.
 
We spent a few months in Madrid in 2011 - in my case, the thing I liked the most about Spain was leaving it. Not a place for this septentrional soul of mine. I'd probably fare much better in Germany or Austria. But most of the crew absolutely LOVED it. 

Sounds like a great move.  My last visit to Spain was in '79.

I spent some time in southern Spain in 2001 or so. Very beautiful place and perfect weather. 
 
The parents of a friend of mine sold their house in Newcastle and bought a citrus orchard in the mountains of Malaga a few years ago. They appear to be having a thoroughly idyllic time there. 

Never been to Spain. Used to travel a lot, been to France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Lapland, Switzerland...Wales...

I've been to 15 countries in Europe, but I somehow missed Spain.  Still a regret.

We are walking a well trodden path, following in the footsteps of countless northern europians and taking semi-retirement down on the Costas. I'm hoping one of the benefits, aside from the weather will be spending more time on my music and therefore making it better. I've spent some time on my Groove 3 annual pass recently learning to use the innumerable toys I already possess, and that is a really worthwhile investment.
