Did you know that Abraham Lincoln founded the Secret Service? Later that same day, he was murdered in public.

Unfortunately, Lincoln had established the Secret Service not for his own protection, but to combat what he considered a more urgent problem: counterfeit money. I'll bet that was the least of his concerns at the end.

clearly didn't study any US history, sorry....but why was Lincoln killed then ?
and might be 1 more stupid question, Kennedy was really killed by that Oswald guy in a single mans action ?
thought Obama looked great as a president, a shame he's gone but saying this without knowing his achievements as a president.

While trying to avoid political discussions, there's some really good information you can Google that can now detail MUCH more about how and why Kennedy was assassinated (although Oswald WAS up in the book repository, he didn't take the fatal shot and was also the CIA patsy set up to take the fall then killed before he could blow the whistle on the conspiracy).  Lots of good information about why Booth and his compatriots wanted Lincoln gone too.

Speaking of Abraham, Abraham Zapruder that is ... the National Archives acquired the Zapruder home movies several years ago. Fascinating stuff.

Lincoln was assassinated in Ford's Theater and Kennedy was assassinated in a Lincoln.

List of Lincoln/JFK coincidences here. It doesn't mention that JFK was killed in a Ford and Lincoln in Ford's theater.

The secretary thing is mostly an urban legend, though. Kennedy did have a secretary with the surname of Lincoln, but Lincoln's secretary was John Hay.

And not to get poly tickle but what a lot of people (millennials and younger) don't remember (or know) is that in Lincoln's day the (R) and (D) platforms were essentially the opposite of what they are today.

So it could be said that when a (R) espouses Lincoln (and his party's platform) they are essentially espousing the (D) platform of today.

Weird huh?
