I am trying to set up a convenient way to edit multiple tracks at the same time while being able to send one back out for reamping. Currently I am running a stereo SPDIF in for my guitars (L is DI, and R is the recording tone) into a stereo track so that when I edit both the D.I and recorded tone are edited at the same time and remain locked in every aspect. In this track I use channel tools to mute the D.I and make the recorded tone stereo so I can pan it anywhere I like in the mix. My problem is that, I would like to insert a send to my SPDIF out for reamping before the channel tools (effect area). Is there any way to do this or do you guys have a better way to configure things so I can have the same work flow? As it sits right now to reamp I have to disable the channel tools to do that.

It may be easier to work with 2 mono tracks. The clips can be edited together by grouping the clips. This would eliminate the need for Channel Tools. To split the existing track into two mono tracks, bounce the track using the Split Mono channel format.

I have experimented with that and know that you can set it up to group clips when recording, but found that all editing does not effect both tracks equally and that I end up having to select both for editing to be consistent. Is there something I am missing when grouping the clips? Is there a way to group them so that they are locked as well as a L,R stereo track?

What kind of editing are you having issues with, Cut and paste ,, or applying eq effects? 

Not sure which problem is worse. I have never jammed mono tracks together for editing purposes. You could always bounce the tracks back together after re-amping.

Cut, copy, paste, move. A lot of times when I would try to do that it wouldn't edit both grouped tracks just the one I was editing. I havn't tried applying effects.

Once I re-amp I will probably just record a mono amp tone because the edited D.I will already exist.  it sounds like the way I am doing this suites me best. It's really just a matter of convenience, and when re-amping not having to disable the channel tools in each track would be one less thing to have to do. One other thing that is a minor inconvenience is that the D.I wave form on the left is hard to see compared to the huge volume of the amp tone on the right side of the track
