  • What happened to the good old Cakewalk Pitch Shifter Plugin?

I noticed that X3 doesn't have this included as part of the Cakewalk Direct X plugins. Not sure if it was included in X1 or 2 but does anyone know why it was excluded? Is there a compatibility issue with X3? The beauty of this baby is that you can transpose a track by amounts other than half steps. Is there another way perhaps to do this? Appreciate any advice or comments, cheers.

I don't know about X3 but it's in X2. Remember that it's a distructive effect so you can't put it in the effects bin. To apply it, right-click on the audio clip, then select:
Process Effect > Audio Effects > Cakewalk > Time/Pitch Stretch 2

The plug-in was ported to 64bit and included through X2. For years the 32bit FX1,2 and 3 plug-ins were available for free from the Cakewalk store, they have been withdrawn there too. Although, with a little digging, I did manage to find a link to the FX3 reverb. Aside from the Roland licensing issue with R-Mix and V-Vocal, the only explanation I have read for dropping some plug-ins from X3 was stability issues.

@Kev999 - I used to use it in the effects bin all the time, without issue. Having said that I know that you could apply it as a clip effect also, as per what you're saying. Also I think the Time/Pitch Stretch 2 plug is a different beast to the Pitch Shifter

@Scook - i figured it might be some compatibility/stability issue also. Having said that I found it on my set of Sonar 8 disks and re-installed it - seems to work ok so far!

Yeah its missing from X3 though John, and was wondering why they excluded it ie compatibility?? And if so, is there another way to pitch shift clips between steps.

It appears that you are right. I see it listed in the X2 manual but not in the X3 manual.

I guess so, but I don't remember another pitch shifter apart from this and the transpose tool.

FWIW, the Time/Pitch Stretch 2 plugin was the one based on MPEX.  I used the **** out of that plugin in the past.
