We're in the same boat mate......having the relentless pursuit of happiness, just to end up with the agony of de feet.

Even though you got it for yourself, music gear is such a wonderful present that you can never get tired of receiving.

Curious about that one, Mesh. I once received an SM48 for Christmas which, before two days ago, has been collecting dust on my dresser. Then again, it WAS fun getting it and trying it out!

Exactly my point......you never get tired of receiving a present (i.e. music gear). Using it. of course is a whole different story.

Difference here is that Tim "presented" himself with a gift.

Tim, I have that exact guitar in sunburst. Got it for my birthday last year. It plays as good or better than any Martin, Taylor, Guild, Gibson, etc, that I've played. It sounds wonderful too. You will love it.

Good to hear this. Thanks!! This mainly why I pulled the trigger on it. Because it got so many great reviews. and the build looks to be very good in this price bracket.
I'm not a big fan of the white purfling, does save the edges though. That's probably the only con I could see.
From a recording perspective, you can take a brighter sounding guitar and EQ if it's too bright. A mellow guitar...not so much. The soundboard being spruce means the character of the sound is likely overt, probably not in a big way.

I looked at the Martin 00015M. Excellent guitar. All mahogany. I found one for about half off retail price used. I still might get one of those later. This seems like a really good all rounder'.

I had to get permission from my better half first...and catch her in a good mood :)

I've got a buddy who has two of the Masterbuilt Epis. Extremely good workmanship and build quality. Great guitars.

Congrats!
