Hello

I've inserted Spark with multi out after the instructions in the CW blog
http://blog.cakewalk.com/sonar-quicktip-setting-up-your-addictive-drums/ Should be the same for Spark I believe.
As shown in the pictures below I routed Spark with 16 mono tracks, and audio is playing on each track hwn hitting record, However, it don't record the drums. What do I do wrong?

SONAR does not record the audio output from any soft synth. To create wave files from a soft synth takes a bounce, freeze, VST recorder plug-in or loopback through the audio interface.

I think this is possible?? Or?
I did watch a tutorial for Maschine at Maschinetutorials.com where (I THINK) he recorded audio (Bounced) into Sonar.
http://maschinetutorials.com/bouncing-your-maschine-tracks-into-sonar-x1/ (Sorry, need to be a member though).

If not, how do I do this? I want to program my drums in Spark VDM and get them into separate tracks.
Should be the same problem with AD then?

In Maschine it is easy to just drag the midi or audio file into Sonar, but should be nice to record it...
I love Maschine, but Spark VDM sounds fantastic, so want to use it...

This http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3000845 describes the bounce method to record a soft synth's audio output.

Hi Erik
I you want to play your own patterns in a sonar project using vdm write your pattern in vdm then drag an drop the pattern you've created directly into your project from the vdm numbered dial. The dial iam reffering to is the one below the host key in the center off vdms console to the right hand side. Also beware DNX pattern D 15 there's a glitch in it it will only drag an drop half the two bar pattern created and loses instruments in the process,so use the A 1 to A15 for creating an dragging an dropping your own patterns. Hope the info helps

Thanks byrd60! Will try this tomorrow:)

Should/Could I still use My set-up as illustrated in the pictures above. Or Will that create separate audio tracks?

Hi Erik
Your better off using one midi track the one vdm's routed to and do all off your tweeks an effects in vdm's mixer etc. If you go to youtube there's a video called, extended video review of arturia spark it give a few more helpful tips on how to use vdm's mixer an effects you'll find it useful believe me. Good luck

Hey

I found the video, seem pretty cool:)

A follow up question though...
You are saying "...using one midi track the one vdm's routed to and do all of your tweaks in vdm's mixer etc"...
Should I set up Spark as I did above (image) and route them to individual tracks? I only had one midi track there?

Or should I insert Spark with other settings?
What checkboxes should be used when inserting Spark?

? Simple instrument track

? Midi source

? First Synth Audio Output
? All Synth Audio Output: Stereo
? All Synth Audio Output: Mono

? Enable Midi Output

EDIT: I want to bounce the tracks to indviual tracks, one for kick, snare etc...

Hi erik
Sorry you use the, soft synth option from the insert menu, once you've clicked on vdm a dialogue box pops up click these boxes if they are not clicked already:

Simple instrument track
Enable midi output

Then click ok your set up now. Enjoy
