Craig... you ARE trying to save the world... that Video "When the grid goes down" is spot on!  I've forewarded it to oooodles of climate/sci/caring humans....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDYkMiE_cTQ

So that's why it has all those views...thanks! Tell them to hit the "like" button

FYI - I just uploaded anew video called "New Day! (Let's See What's Going to Happen)." What's of interest to Sonarians is that there's only one vocal track on it. The other vocals and harmonies were all created with Melodyne Essential, and I have to say, I think they sound very realistic. I already did an article for the Cakewalk blog about using Melodyne for ADT, but there's also another one about creating harmonies.

Darn it! The OP has been edited and I don't know what was said.

Short form: 8.5 was great, X-series sucks, bring back clickable marker buttons, do more color customization, saving to project folders sucks, synth rack sucks, and I am personally responsible for the fate of the Western world.

Regarding the latter, I am truly sorry for the situation in the Ukraine. I ignored the email saying "come to Kiev NOW!!" because I thought it was spam from Travelocity. Shortly thereafter is when the negotiations fell apart, and I have only myself to blame.

Anyway, gotta go...Japan needs my help extricating some of the fuel rods at Fukushima. When I get back, I'll see what I can do about those slackers at Cakewalk.

LOL. That.WAS. AWESOME Craig (not Graig)!

Colors
I'm sick of hearing about colors. You can do a lot with colors in Sonar. I just don't care too much. Frankly, making it all work in gray tones probably helps the color-blind contingent (if there is one).

+10 million.

Quite frankly its pathetic.... Get a fecking life!!!

Also, for the rest of this thread, all the usual forum members have chimed in with absolute worthwhile comments,

If the OP cant make the transition from 8.5.3 then BOOHOO!!!!

Alot of us have very very successfully.

Maybe this thread should be called "Dear Mr Anderton, I cant learn this new software, have got dunk and ranted on the forum, please help me with my poor programming skills"

Ffs.

Dear Mr Anderton, I couldnt nail a chorus on my last track and to make matters worse the signal to noise ratio on the latest feature I am working on was recorded so badly by the sound recordist that X3e cant shelf the noise properly... I BLAME YOU!

What a ridiculous thread.

I must admit... I took the attack a little personally but tried to keep it light. Mr. Anderton is a busy fellow who has been doing this for a lot of years and I'm just another droog on a forum however his videos, articles and presence here on the forum, particularly as of late, has been a boon to my continuing pursuit of audio knowledge. He is fair and even tempered even when dealing with ridiculous abuse (which has been exhibited in this very thread) and even since being hired by the company that is currently invested in Sonar is still very honest in his opinions about not only its strengths but its flaws.

When I see Craig talking about how much he likes the program I truly get the sense he has used it extensively and really does love it. He is not just toadying to the corporate overseers and I have not seen a major difference in his posting style since he was hired by Gibson (aside from avoiding mentioning competitors by name but I try to do that myself out of respect for the forum).

The point is it's like sitting in a bar with your buddies and some crazy person comes in and starts flipping out on the nicest, most helpful guy in your group for no reason. I don't know about you guys but that type of thing gets my blood boiling a little.

However I think that may have been the point. Not saying it was a troll... but... might be a troll... especially considering the whole Comic Sans thing. lulz

This is 100% correct. When Sonar appeared, I was using Cubase for MIDI/hard disk recording, and Acid for loops. Often I had to bounce back and forth between the programs. Sonar was the first program that did MIDI, hard disk recording, and looping with equal ease. I started using it, liked what the program was all about, and found that it suited my style of working perfectly. It still does

I don't know why he was so grouchy.

He seems to be a legit user though. Someone who owns the products. He wanted to use the Blue Tubes stuff in 8.53.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's possible for us to gang up back on him in a way that is also unkind. He wasn't very nice to begin with. He edited his post repeatedly, so it was a moving target.

But I do think he is a real person who was upset and not very diplomatic.

I read his clearing of his post as an act of shame and humiliation.

He posts seldom, but his account is as old as mine.
