People get very personal about their creative tools. If Gibson changes
anything on their guitars, no matter how seemingly minor, some people flip out. "The insulation on the wire going from ground to the tone control used to be orange, now it's red!! Why can't you make guitars the way you used to?!!?" But those people are also the company's biggest fans. The fact that they can get so attached to an inanimate object is, when you get down it, quite flattering.
Hopefully the OP will give X3 another chance in order to understand why most people like it so much. I predict if he does, he will remain equally passionate, but it will be about X3
