Anderton
Well like I said, I'm not going to diss someone who's that passionate about the program.

I don't know why he was so grouchy.

He seems to be a legit user though. Someone who owns the products. He wanted to use the Blue Tubes stuff in 8.53.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's possible for us to gang up back on him in a way that is also unkind. He wasn't very nice to begin with. He edited his post repeatedly, so it was a moving target.

But I do think he is a real person who was upset and not very diplomatic.

I read his clearing of his post as an act of shame and humiliation.

He posts seldom, but his account is as old as mine.

I agree - I did respond to his post sincerely.  I DID happen to reference Forrest Grump, but that was meant as a humorous reaction to his repeated 'that's all I got to say about that' comments.

I wish him the best, in any case, and hope he gives X3 a legitimate shot.

People get very personal about their creative tools. If Gibson changes anything on their guitars, no matter how seemingly minor, some people flip out. "The insulation on the wire going from ground to the tone control used to be orange, now it's red!! Why can't you make guitars the way you used to?!!?" But those people are also the company's biggest fans. The fact that they can get so attached to an inanimate object is, when you get down it, quite flattering.

Hopefully the OP will give X3 another chance in order to understand why most people like it so much. I predict if he does, he will remain equally passionate, but it will be about X3

Yes you make a very good point. I too wondered if maybe we did a little overkill. I don't feel sorry for him as I have about others that start a rant and then retract it once the forum explains things. What I saw was someone that tried to be a little pompous and disparage a fine program simply out of ignorance. It just didn't seem right.

What stuck out for me was the fact he had X1 "on the shelf" unused. That was over two years ago. In that time between 8.5 sessions he could have learned the X series and when he upgraded to X3 that rant would not have happened.  This forum would have helped him with the transition and there are tons of material for learning it in the form of books and videos and blogs. He chose not to do any of that and out of the deep blue he attacks Mr. Anderton for not making X3 the same as Sonar 8.5.

Lets hope he comes back and wants to interact with us in a positive way.
