  • Anybodys sonar X3 crashed after X3e update (p.2)

Last week end I was experiencing some odd issues with editing midi data in PRV mode, mostly using the scrolling forward and back to edit the velocities of the drums, since the composition requires light drum response. The issue still is somewhat touchy even after X3e, those arrows always have being sort of touchy, sometimes they work great and other times the cursor just runs away.

I never updated since X3c but tried X3d first, but the update halted early in the process, so I quit that, lost the launch icon (maybe corrupted file) Rolled back the computer, then clicked on X3e and all went well during update process. The noticeable good thing was UAD plugins issue of inserting multiple UAD plugs, use to require turning UAD off\on to recover the loss response of those plugs, back to the way they were during X2 last year.

Regardless of the fact that win7 is pretty good, some odd issues prompt up with other devices, such as the extra bells and whistles found on my Querty keyboard decide to work after several pushes like mute, volume....once they respond, then they are snappy.

I also use a number of EWQL soft synths and I do suspect conflict (memory?) issues between EWQL play engine and Sonar (and Sonar add ons like Addictive Drums, Melodyne, etc), in fact I think it's been going on a long time.  But it seems better in some versions than others.  For me X3e seems less stable than X3d, all versions of X2, X1 and Sonar 8.x ... but it's good to know this is not happening for everyone.

X3e is very stable here. In some projects I run as many as 10-15 softsynths with about the same amount of audio tracks without even so much as a hiccup.

Hi:)

Very stable here, just one crash, when I tried to use more than 5 Dimension Pro instances, I then had to freeze the others....

No problems here.

Since you mentioned possibly being related to soft synths, did you reset and rescan your plug-ins after the installation?

I rescanned for vst plugins but I didn't reset anything. Mind you I started off with 16 plugins after the rescan sonar found 33 plugins. Will I have to reset my plugins?

I have yet to be able to successfully install any X3 update. I have been using Sonar PE 8.5.3.
The downloads Cakewalk sent me crashed due to a "fatal error" during the attempted installations.
Cakewalk had me send them a crash file dump, then they sent me another update which also  crashed before completing installation. No dodgy software. No issues with anything else.

Have you checked the MD5 hashes shown for each download here? :

I wonder if you have corrupted downloads.

Stable with no issues to report here including some old 32bit plugins I am using. All good!
