  • [Fixed] Turning snap on/off in PRV, only possible with mouse click (p.4)

Hi Steve...

I play and edit... Using both tools a lot... It's a pain for sure, but please also know that the vast differences between 4.0.2 and X3e will make everything a bit tough... Especially as you enter the X-anything realm as so much was changed... Keyboard shortcuts are more powerful now, but many of them have been changed/moved/removed/added... and the difference of Layers really has been (ongoing) a challenge... Some things are better, some need more work, but overall I am far happier with X3e than 4.0.2... Now if you compare it to 8.5.3, that's another story... But even there. I have 8.5.3 still on my machine, but I only open it when I'm assisting a client who still uses it... I don't want to go back...

That said, I still have many issues with the X generation... But I love the ProChannel and it's plugins so much that it keeps me X3e! ;-)

I am so glad you did this post. My snap stop working and I didn't know why. I read through your issue and when I get home I will have to check this out.

Thanks!

Hi Keni,
I got a bit more time in over the last hour and I'm gonna be ok with the snap options and I'm liking the multi dock
so I'm over the hump of the leaning curve to get from 4.0.2 to X3.

Thanks!

Hi Steve...

I'm glad you're feeling comfortable... I don't know how much audio editing you've worked with in X3e yet though... the changes there are quite a few...

Best of luck...

Hey Keni,
Yea... little to no audio editing at this point. Just the occasional slice and drag copy.
I'll also be keeping my 4.0.2 partition so I can boot to it any time I need it.

Thanks for the talk. It's nice to run into you again.

Same here Steve... Nice running into you again here in such a fine place! ;-)

Audio editing is pretty normal in the track, but using Lanes are very different than Layers and X3e has even more differences to Lane editing... Recording as well due to the new Comp Mode...

It's mostly pretty cool... It has some rough spots but can be quite fluent most of the time after you get it down... My biggest complaints other than the little snap pain are the multiple issues related to zoom... If you have hidden tracks or folders zoom behaves incorrectly (Z+click-drag) and zoom parameters for zooming Lanes are incredibly difficult for me to work with, so I spend far too much time using multiple commands in multiple places to get to a zoom I can work with... And with Lanes, I can't get there at all... They are severely limited regarding Zoom.... But these are all topics for a different thread...

Least it be said, that the missing toggle for PRV-Snap is along the same lines of time waster/fidgety operation... So it's a 3 steps forward and 2 steps back with X...

...and regardless, it's still powerful and fun!

And not having a shortcut to enable/disable PRV snap is a major fly in the ointment regardless of whether it shares the global on/off or has it's own...

There seems to be a misunderstanding about how this thread got re-awakened. It wasn't about toggling PRV snap on/off. That was fixed in one of the patches - I don't recall which, but it was quite a while back. PRV snap should again toggle on/off along with the global snap status. Are you still having trouble?

I'm not.
"N" is toggling all snap (global and PRV) on and off perfectly in the X3d demo version.

Works here also.

I like that when you do use n to toggle snap on/off in the PRV, up at the right, it turns like a pale blue to let you know if it's on/off.

No... No misunderstanding...

PRV Snap does not toggle with the global shortcut and must be toggled with the mouse... It has not been fixed as far as my system knows... Maybe it works if you have smart grid on... But I can't work with it's selections... I'll see if I can test this issue for such though...

Keni

I just tried and even with smart grid enabled, PRV Snap does not toggle with N...
