Ok not really. I'm not much for buying into the yoo and all that supernatural hokus pokus. But I do believe that one can fairly accurately predict aspects of the future simply by paying close attention to the present. I think it takes a certain amount of clarity and genuine open mindedness to do it well though. And for me, I find that most often happens in dream state. Something about not being able to get my damn fool brain out of my own way the rest of the time I suppose.

Anyway I had a dream last night that I was using a device of the future. In this dream I was sitting in my own home studio and I got a text from a friend who lives 800 miles away asking if I wanted to collaborate on a project with him. I said sounds good count me in. Then I put on a pair of VR googles and logged into an online space.

In that online virtual space we were both in the same room even though we were both in our own home studios located 800 miles from each other. The output of his computer/DAW was routed into mine and vice versa. When he played his guitar, I heard exactly what he was hearing at exactly the same time with no latency, or rather with some sort of technological solution that essentially eliminated any latency. This allowed either of us to play recordings we were working on developing and allowed us both to play along and/or record along. And obviously we could converse in real time while we were both noodling etc.

As I was waking up, I realized this currently non-existent product is probably not far off or at least the ability to do it is not far off. And I also realized there's probably a decent market for such a product so long as the price is right. But if the off the shelf price was under $500 and hook up/use was fairly easy and reliable, I could see such a product selling very well.

I don't really have a question here, more I just wanted to share my observation of the above. So if I have any question at all I guess its this. If such a product were available, would you use it?

Quantum entanglement is a way of transmitting information between two points with zero latency even if those points are light years apart so theoretically your dream could become reality one day.

I think the proof of concept has already happened. I'm sure I read an article once like 10 or 15 years ago about some high profile artist (Stevie Wonder?) doing something like it where he was in a studio in LA and was recording a track, but the vocalist was in a studio in NY and the audio was being transmitted between the two facilities in real time.

So I'm sure its possible right now, but probably not cheap nor simple nor reliable. I suspect sooner or later someone will figure out a way to tick all three of those boxes.

There was an online service a couple of years, Jam Kazam IIRC, that several folks in another forum claimed to be the bees knees for this type of thing.  I don't have the bandwidth so could never get it working.

Yep, JamKazam ...

If they don't exist yet, I wouldn't be surprised if full VR concerts aren't coming soon.

Yeah it stands to reason that'll be coming. Really hard hook up with a rando in the parking lot after the show when you're sitting in your own basement though.

I think STING explained these occurrences  as Jungian synchronicity.  Or at least he wrote a song about it.  Most creative people live in some kind of vortex.  For musicians it often relates to time.  You have to believe it's possible for it to occur.  ?

Same with religion.  What's the condition of the possibility of faith.

I could give my honest answer but I'd probably offend someone so I'll just leave this one alone.

Sorry, I took off that controversial bit.  My point being that it takes a leap of faith...even in science.  Like entanglement in quantum theory.  No matter how far we go, there's always a limit beyond which is an unknown and we assume it's discoverable.
