We are thinking of producing a video (or series of videos) of a step by step production using Sonar X3.
The idea is to record a song from scratch. From the time the band arrives to the studio 'till the song is done.
This would be made by me and our senior engineer FP and would consist of:
- Setting up the studio;
- Routing;
- Choosing the mics;
- Arranging;
- Recording a live band;
- Overdubbing;
- Tweeking;
- Mixing;
- Mastering.
I wonder if this would be useful for you and what specific topics you would like to be included.

How about a few chapters on MIDI for those of us who add MIDI parts to a live band and/or use MIDI exclusively.

The only thing I am missing in your list is "Editing". 
This is such a chalange, Im wondering if it will ever come out and what the price is going to be?

Thank you for the support. I think that this will be a fun project to do and it's god to know a lot of you are interested.
The idea is not to ale a video tutorial about sonar alone. For this, there are videos already. My idea is to make a video of a real productions and show you how we deal with the different challenges...
Of course, we will cover a lot of Sonar features along the way, but many will be left out.
We have to decide if you are going to include third party plugins or only Sonar's plugs…We love waves and had plugs, but I am afraid that if we use them we will leave some of you guys behind...
What do you guys think? Your feedback is very important.

I plan to shoot the video asap. I will let you know when we start and what kind of music will be.

Grem, yes it will probably be a series of videos. I don't want to make restrictions in its length. As I mentioned before, this will be a real production (not in real time of course, we will edit out the dead moments…)
The detail will depend on the music type, edit needed, mix etc...

Yes MarioD, it will definitely have midi on it…lots of it.

I missed that. I posted this while spending the weekend on the beach.
I don't have my detailed plan here with me. Of course it will have a lot of EDITING...
