My Fantom is my midi controller via my MV8800. When I hit the pitch bend the volume of my softsynths changes instead of bending the note. Anyone familiar with this?

Does this happen with one soft synth, or all of them?
 
Also, record some pitch bend midi data in a midi track, and see what midi events are captured in Sonar, and post that data here.  (Right-click on the midi clip and View Event List).
 
Volume is normally assigned to CC 7 and/or CC 11, by the way.

There is some doc starting on or about page 67 for continuous data parameters and such, and possibly this would shed light on things.
 
I would imagine the areas to look at would be:
 
1.  What your Fantom is transmitting when you move the pitch wheel.
2.  What your MV-8800 is re-transmitting
3.  What Sonar is recording
4.  Soft synth parameter settings
 
I am also a little confused - I have no knowledge of the MV-8800, so forgive me, but why wouldn't you simply connect your Fantom keyboard to your computer with a USB connection?  (or does it not have one and you need to use the MV-8800 to access an old-style actual midi connector?)
 
Lastly, did this EVER work in Sonar?

I am not actually recording in Sonar only using it to pass the soft synths to my sequencer for now.

I will go thru it. I just assumed this was a software issue since all my hardware pitch bend functions properly.

Not recording. Sequencing with the MV8800. Sonar at this point is just 
being used as the host software.

Because My MV8800 is my sequencer. The Fantom is just acting as a 
controller & sound module for that.

In terms of Sonar, I guess I would like to know what Sonar is 'seeing' when you pass pitch-bend data through Sonar, so can you actually record the midi in Sonar and then look to see what midi events are present when you apply pitch bend? (and post back with that info)
 
SO, the easy fix would be to figure out why Sonar is seeing volume event, rather than pitch bend events.
 
I think there is a larger issue, which would be to look at whether or not Sonar would be the best tool for what you seem to be trying to do.
 
It seems to me, if I understand things correctly, that for YOU, Sonar is simply acting like a giant multi-timbral sound module, simply reacting to external sequencer data to produce layered sounds by having a bunch of synths loaded into the synth rack, and that you are not actually doing any recording in Sonar, but simply sequencing in your MV-8800 and triggering the sounds in Sonar.
 
Please confirm or correct my interpretation above.  The following content from me is based on the above being a correct assumption as to how you are using Sonar, so if my understanding is not correct, you can pretty much skip all of the rest of my post here.  :)
 
There are program out there that function like VST Hosts, that are purpose-built to allow you to load up a bunch of synths in a 'rack', and then create complex combinations of presets, where the software captures the settings of each loaded synth, and can then instantly switch between these complex layered sounds.  While these programs are built for live performance, they seem buch better-suited for reacting to the external midi events from your MV-8800.
 
I used to try to use Sonar for live performances, and while there certainly are folks who DO use it for that, I found Forte to work better for me, with faster switching of presets, and much lower CPU consumption.  It's not that anything is wrong with Sonar, it is just built for doing recording and sequencing, and live performance has some different needs.  Your needs seem to be to have something that loads up a bunch of synths, and then simply plays back sounds from those synths, from sequencer data from your MV-8800.
 
 
In Forte and Cantabile, you can build, save, and load all kinds of 'racks', giving you unlimited combinations of different synths and presets, without all of the overhead of all of the recording/editing functionality of Sonar.
 
I routinely had racks in Forte with as many as 15 loaded synths at any one time.  For live performance, I could switch to any combination of different layers, through the use of presets, called Snapshots in Forte.  
 
For YOUR purposes, you likely would be more focused on using Forte/Cantabile at the 'Rack' level, and not so much on switching presets live - like what I did.
 
 

So I figured out it is not Sonar it is something with the settings in my RME ff800. I did not have Sonar open was just listening to Spotify accidentally bumped my pitch bend and the volume change in my FireFace mixer. so have to figure that out.
