I'm having a bit of trouble with Gobbler. Upload and backup times are crazy slow-it took nearly 3 hours to send a 1 gig Sonar file to a client. That said, I've been in contact with tech support and they have been really great! Still trying to solve the issue but it's nice to work with a company that wants to solve my problem and do it in a friendly, helpful way. I love the idea of Gobbler but at the speeds I'm getting it's impracticable for me. I hope it gets resolved.

I'm uploading a 1Gig project at the moment. After 1 hour it is at 23%, pausing, encrypting, deduping and resuming in frequent intervals. From my experience, Gobbler works really fast once I have the complete project uploaded and keep on working on it. Gobbler backs up after every save in Sonar. For me the best way to use it, is to have it in new projects right from scratch.
I haven't send files with Gobbler yet nor have I downloaded a file yet, so I can't tell about the speed, but why should a download run faster than an upload...  As long as the backed up files stay intact I'm ok with using Gobbler. If the back up speed would speed up I would be happy to use Gobbler.

Sending projects and bounced down WAVs is the number one way I use Gobbler. Posting MP3s is dangerous because the links get passed around and pretty soon your scratch version is the only one anyone is listening to.
 
Gobbler enables me to send tunes to a single person. That's the only person who can download the files. As long as she/he doesn't spread them around it's still all sub-rosa.
 
Another gripe with emailing around MP3s is that the sound isn't that great and it encourages bands to judge the mix from their laptop speakers. When I send them a dozen 24 bit waves, they sound great on a good stereo and I get proper feedback on the mixes.

I like the address book function in Hightail, and if you get the advanced account, you can put your company's (studio's) logo on the page as a nice reminder to your clients.
 
Is there an address book within Gobbler for file transfers, or do you need to retype the addresses for every transfer?  (The video just shows it being typed in.)
 
Is there a way to put your own logo on Gobbler links sent to clients?
 
And one more -
The video mentions a Gobbler "App" for clients that don't wish to sign up.
The video also mentioned that this app helps give the client faster downloads.
I haven't found that app yet - just the Gobbler software for "a second PC".
Do you have the link for the client app?

I have had to keep re-entering email addresses. It doesn't seem to store them. I've been creating text files in the folders of WAVs I send out for the email addresses I send them to.
 
I have no control over the emails that get sent other than a short textual passage I get to add. I haven't tried typing html into the text message, but I have a feeling that it would be rendered as text for the end user.
 
There is a difference between an app users can download for the sole purpose of downloading the files you sent and the users actually opening a gobbler account. Opening a gobbler account will get you an extra 1/2 GB of storage. The other does not.

It looks like an integrated address book would be a plus for Gobbler, as most of us send multiple copies of mixes to the same clients as their projects progress...
 
Like I've said, I use Hightail, and have it tailored for sending large files to clients - complete with my own logo and
upload link (should the client wish to send me a file).
The address book is really basic - no editing of addressee info - but at least it remembers past addressees.
 
Also - Hightail is default "public", so my client can forward the link to his band-mates without the need to sign up.
 
The integration with Sonar X3 with the automatic project backup is a cool feature, and that has me on the fence with this 50% annual discount being offered by Gobbler...!

Checking to see how the speeds are? We have been looking into your issue. I think it should be resolved now.

Hi All, just looking around for information on gobbler vs other options and saw this comment and some other related comments.  Upload speed are always slower than download speeds if your using commercial internet.  Check your internet connection with or . This will show you your upload/download speed and you'll see what I mean.

I cannot recommend Gobbler highly enough. Choosing it over Dropbox, Google Drive or any other cloud service is a no-brainer when it comes to backing up audio projects. For me it's worked seamlessly and upload/download speeds have been very fast. Granted my projects tend to be relatively light on audio files, but I would still say it's very fast for what it's transferring.

The best thing about Gobbler is the revision history. I can't tell you how many times I've used this to go back to an earlier version of a project to salvage something, whether it be a MIDI clip that I'd since lost or ruined, or a synth setting that I wanted to revert back to. And one time when due to a freak alignment of the stars one of my projects saved as a blank template, it was the work of a minute to throw up the revision history and recover the last working version I had.

There's really no need to worry about those .gobbler files. In terms of space they're negligible. If you're that short on storage then it's probably time to upgrade.
