Does anyone have or tried the focusrite VRM box ? I was thinking about buying one but didn't know if actually did what it was suppost to do and how accurate it actually is ... can anyone give me a head up on this ...

I have one but have not really done a serious mix with it as yet. It took awhile to get it set up since I was using the SPDIF input, but it seems to be working now. Here is a review that should help - I agree with what Gram is saying.

I have had one for over a year.  Its a nice "gimmick" but not really a serious mixdown tool for me.  I can use it to see what other emulated speaker systems will sound like with a mix but otherwise its not really something I can't live without.   Mostly my VRM box collects dust.

thanks for the info ... I'm new to all this ....  how do you like that octa capture interface fireberd ? I'm looking to replace this tascam us 800 with something else ... it keeps making my computer go to the blue screen of death ... ( fatal error ) and shut down .... only does it when I have the tascam hooked up ... tried the focusrite scarlett 2i2 but the gain in the monitor mix was really weak so I sent it back ... was looking at the quad capture sense I don't need but a couple of inputs and thought Roland hardware would work best with cakewalk software ... don't really know what brand to get or what to stay away from.. looking to keep cost below 300.00

The VRM is a nice little unit.  I use it when mixing on my laptop while I'm traveling.  If you check your mixes on the VRM using multiple speaker emulations and you mix sounds good on all of them, your mix should be OK.  Each emulation has its own character, some bass, mid or treble heavy.  So when my mix sounds balance on all of them, it usually sounds good on my studio monitors also.  Not to mention, mixing poolside isn't bad either.
