Just wishing peace, inspiration, security and all things good for the new year. For all of you and your families, loved ones.
Hit my end point of acquisition by retiring on a welfare check, and my main XP computer not loading anything anymore. Was a good thing.
However:
May there be great deals on new plugins. New etherial reverbs.
May distortion boxes refine to the point of getting the real live sound.
May their be new, useful and affordable Kontakt libraries. May there be radical new synths for the keyboarders among us.
May bugs be worked out of all DAWS.
Have the vision that in 30 years, the musicians of the next generation will laugh about what we are struggling with. If PC’s still exist, any Walmart generic will have an unlimited track sound card with some rock solid DAW way beyond what we can envision.
Bugs and refinements will likely be with holograms and smells or other sensory input. Another 30 years later and they’ll have that ironed it out if we still need the sense of smell to convey our music.
Think of the glory of it in the present. Battling against bugs and incompatible vst’s. Imperfect science adding to the sublime struggle, and how it makes us better technicians and engineers.
Anyway, here and now…Happy New Year and wishing you all the things that dreams are made of.
