The new album from Mostly Autumn, "Sight of Day" which I preordered in their crowd funding a couple of months back.

Hopefully I will have chance to have a good listen later today.

(Hi)

I am loving this so far. I like the direction the band has taken since Heather Findlay’s departure, they seemed to really find their feet with “Dressed in Voices” and “Sight of Day” carries on where that album left off. It’s quite heavy in places. It’s a double album so there is a lot to take in and I have still not played it in its entirety.

Olivia’s voice seems to get better and better, very versatile, she does not really let rip with that powerful soprano until “Tomorrow Dies” towards the end of disc one but when she does!!! It’s nice to hear Charlie Johnson singing on his song “Changing Lives” adding a third contrasting lead vocal to compliment Bryan and Olivia.

Bryan Josh’s lead guitar is as good as ever, Gilmoresque in places as one would expect but even shades of The Edge creeping in here and there.

Probably another for my to-get list!

(Hmm...  I just got paid so I'll have to see what's available...)

I just went back to the website, as I had forgotten what "extras" I got in this limited edition for the crowd funding participants.

As usual we are asking for your help to fund this project so we are offering a pre-order limited edition double album, the second disc of which will be songs only available on this edition and limited to 2000 copies.

So only disc one of what I have will be on the general release. The best stuff is on the first disc (or rather that the coherent album) but disc 2 is far from filler material.

So disc 2 is no longer available?

Not sure, It was advertised as a limited edition for pre-orders. There maybe some info on their website.

Right, just checked the MA Records page and its still showing the pre-order as available so you might me lucky if you want the special edition. The extra disc is well worth having, it all new material rather than remixes, demos and the like one often gets as an extra.

Hmm...  Pricey, and I have no use for physical CD's anymore...  I wish they had a download option (plus that saves $5 in shipping).  I may still go for it though!  $32.50 (U.S.) has been getting me 3-4 albums lately.

I just emailed their sales support to see if there's a hidden download option.  I'm going to get it either way, but why not save the physical CD for those that love 'em?  I would just rip it into my computer and put the CD in a box.

Looks like the general release in the UK won't be until 7th April according to Amazon. MP3 downloads are usually available for their albums but I doubt if the extra content will be there.

I have gone back to buying CDs in most cases. I mostly listen to the ripped versions on my iPod or the studio computer but do play the CDs on the home cinema system in the lounge. But I like having the physical product with lyric sheets etc.

I recently bought a couple of live King Crimson recordings from DGM, I was being clever and bought the FLAC versions which mean the only place I can play them at the moment is on the studio computer until I get around to making a MP3 or CD.
