Hey guys, is X3 rock solid? Did they improve it in comparison with X2a?
Thanks a lot!

X3's stability has been excellent for me...no problems to report.

Same here... most stable product ever and I started way back in Sonar 5 days...X3 is bliss compared to anything prior...

While many are reporting specific issues or instances of a problem here and there, I'm in heaven... have even tried to max out my ram with a dozen songs loaded at once, all using various Sonar versions, to force a crash which was easy before... with nary a hiccup!

Bakers did a heavenly job this time...

Same here. X1d real stable, X2a real shaky, X3 so far is at least as stable as X1d was.

They've definitely tweaked the audio engine, or perhaps the core of the program for X3, it just feels generally snappier.
One other thing I've noticed is that if you walk away from the computer with a Sonar project open, for say 20 minutes, come back, hit spacebar. it plays right away.
Sonar X2 would hang for a short interval, then playback. Not a big deal, but evidence that some tweaking has been done.

I installed last night so haven't played much but my initial feeling is exactly as you mentioned above in comparison to past experience with X1.

Some tracks still takes a while to play after hitting space bar but those are loaded with plugins and FX, so I was kinda expecting it.

If I walked away from X2a for a bit, the audio engine would almost always stop.  This has not happened in X3 as yet.

So far X3 is vastly more stable than X2 ever was for us. Many people had great luck with X2 but that just wasn't the case for our particular system and we ended up reverting back to X1d for the entire life cycle of X2. Keep in mind that we torture our systems on a daily basis with high track/plug counts and I realize that is not everybody's experience.
That being said, X3, on the exact same system build that we used before, runs noticeably more robust. Changing screen sets, looping during playback, inserting native effects, all seem more stable than before. In fact one of the only issues we encountered so far, and this is only twice, is that Addictive Drums seems to loose sync during playback. But even this seems rare and may have more to do with the XLN side of things.
The Nomad plugs are very under-rated and sound quite good, the chorus, delay and the gate are especially strong and easily as good as some of the UAD versions.

seems to be pretty stable. I ran some tests today and things seem to run smooth

No offence, but that's a redundant question, there's no correct answer. Why? Because many users, such as myself, consider X2a rock solid. There are so many variables that will determine your definition of "stable" (system configuration, peripherals, drive speeds, interface, etc).
