Any reason you are running an internal sound card AND the Scarlette?

I would disable the internal, Windows will start sharing and hogging drivers all over the place otherwise....especially on Windows 8 I have noticed this is worse than in Win 7.

"5400 rpm" can also lead to issues but not in the manner you have described.

well when I don't have the scarlette plugged in I use the internal sound card - when I move the notebook to my study I plug in the scarlette and uncheck the internal sound card I then change from MME to ASIO and crash... I use notebook for other things as well as use it with sonar amongst other things.  Is this not allowed?  I guess if I setup a desktop then I wouldn't have so many problems, so I shouldn't use sonar on a notebook right? :)  I get the notion u don't likey me all that much markyzno :(

Have you tried Asio4All for your using with your internal sound card?
 http://www.asio4all.com/

Might help with both the MME and switching from MME to Asio.

No room for disliking here old bean!

Just trying to help..... I think we have found your issue and as the last poster suggested, try ASIO 4 ALL, that should cope with your multiple card setup woes.

In my experience switching between multiple cards is asking for trouble...I myself use 2 cards but across PT10 and Sonar but NEVER at the same time (not possible, not that you are trying that of course)...Both my cards use ASIO (Delta 1010 and MOTU Audio Express) so I dont have woes between switching from MME and into ASIO.

I would really consider ditching this onboard Sound Card in favour of the Scarlette which would be able to accommodate your Audio needs.?

Anyways, deffo not a Sonar issue regardless.

Hope ASIO 4 ALL helps you out!

X3 been running for 4 days, rock solid. I had to increase my audio buffer size on my M-Audio Soundcard as advised by Celemony to run Melodyne, I bought the upgrade to Editor. I lifted the Audio buffer from 512 to 1024 samples. Everything is runni8ng as sweet as a nut!
Good luck!

Same here on the stability front.   I didn't have stability issues in X2a either, but X3b is as good if not slightly better since as others have described it feels "snappier"... even though that may not be strictly speaking "stability".  But I don't really care either way about the semantics because it's working quite well for me.

I am curious though... are others increasing their buffer to accomodate Melodyne as Martyn UK noted?    The only reason I ask is that I've never done that in S1 or now in SONAR X3, other than if the project itself requires it from a resource perspective.

It's fairly stable for me, although still getting blue screens when working with wave files...the more I work it, the higher probability it's going to happen. If I close and then load another project, it's usually not long before a problem occurs. I've since uninstalled and then re-installed in safe mode and am currently testing.

Other than that, it's good. My Alchemy plug-in however asks me to locate its data every time I run a scan, which I do once on start-up. I'm not sure whether I need to do a scan every time though.

Fabio, sounds like you are you running XP? Win 7 or 8 would probably fix some of your issues.
