I opened an X2 project in X3 last night. It felt exactly the same.

If I walked away from X2a for a bit, the audio engine would almost always stop.  This has not happened in X3 as yet.

The same with me, only it would most of the time lockup, and I would then have to fuss with it for a while to get it to unlock. Rarely, did I have to restart X2a to solve the problem, however.

Something else that I think that I am noticing with Sonar X3b; the audio sounds "cleaner" is that possible??  Did the bakers re-work the audio engines to effect that?

I opened up a fairly large project I started in X2 with X3. Everything including softsynths, plug-ins and automation were perfectly in tact. Loving X3!!

It's fairly stable for me, although still getting blue screens when working with wave files...the more I work it, the higher probability it's going to happen. If I close and then load another project, it's usually not long before a problem occurs. I've since uninstalled and then re-installed in safe mode and am currently testing.

Other than that, it's good. My Alchemy plug-in however asks me to locate its data every time I run a scan, which I do once on start-up. I'm not sure whether I need to do a scan every time though.

Fabio, sounds like you are you running XP? Win 7 or 8 would probably fix some of your issues.

Hey, JS...I'm running Win7 64bit - need to do my signature.

Strange indeed....I have never seen a BSOD on Win 7.

They've definitely tweaked the audio engine, or perhaps the core of the program for X3, it just feels generally snappier.

Ok I just bought x3 and installed it on my laptop with Win 7 ( I have sonar 5 on my desktop with XP)
One thing I did notice is that when I hit play or rewind on my laptop there is about a 1.5 sec delay before anything happens. This is not the case with my old setup.

I can live with it but is that normal. The laptop is a HP pavilion dv7 with a i7 CPU and 8 gigs of ram

No. Except when you have a lot of soft synths or tons of FX. 1.5 sec. seems a bit long though.

What X3e has is very stable and snappier DAW for all but the most demanding songs. On my system on occasion with 80 tracks + and FX plus PC it might delay a moment before starting. However I find it very reliable and very forgiving.

Yes ,the stability of x3 is much better than x2 or x1. I use 20-30 channel with many vsti per project and x3 is better.
The x2 was nightmare for me ,every day is frozen and many problems. The x3 is much better!
I recommend to you!

I haven't used much X3 yet with fresh projects since I have had a lot to work with with older (X2) projects. With the older (X2 era) projects I have had problems, yet with fresh ones (native X3) none.
