+1 for Chord Track
+++++1 for complete color control.  I would like so much to be able to change the dreary gray framework!
- Ability to insert busses anywhere in the console view.

1) Better audio clip analyzing tools. I want, e.g.,

- to be no more than 2 mouse clicks away from knowing what the av. loudness of the audio in a clip is in LUFS and RMS, and
-to be able normalize a clip to LUFS and RMS (with a user-definable time window).

2) Vaweform preview in RMS (with a user-definable time window).

3) Fix the bugs --- and redo the audio snap.

Gents,
I don´t have any ideas to bring Sonar forward cause X3 already has more to deliver
that I will ever use, so far it´s  good, that you have this great ideas.
I have only one feature request.:
the ability to process tracks to red book format.

Have fun

These are my long standing gripes and one advancement.
1-ACT overhaul (bidirectional MIDI)

2-Audio snap/simple beat warping with two steps add warp markers and then stretch. as present I am yet to get any in-depth or accurate warping results, its just over kill at present, so we need a simpler manual way to adjust the markers.

3- Better automation drawing those on the pen tool are also not so good and very constraining, better pre determined drawing that obeys the snap to grid/ time line settings or even better the adaptive grid.
Although the icing on a cake regarding automation and my indulgence to be able to lasso a section of automation and save that in a browser section with small display for the curve also shown in browser if possible or that can be named or both, this saved automation pattern will become universal to sonar drawing and not to actual VST parameters themselves ,you could save and re paste as you need on other automation lines. if they want to be forward thinking then this is the one to include that no other daw that has and its very practical and can be time saving, I would say save these automation clips from 1 bar to 32 bars would suffice.

Although I would prefer the already included things where improved first instead of third party plugins just got to get that in .

2) Add the ability to move the first measure (start) of a project to a later time to give you negative measures for count in and pre roll purposes.

Project > Insert Time/Measures; or you can set a count-in for recording or recording or both in the metronome options.

This can be done by setting a count-in in the metronome settings. You can specify a custom number of beats or measures! :]

EDIT: Whoops, looks like I've been beaten to the punch!

I draw automation that snaps to the grid all the time. Maybe you need to enable Aim Assist?

I would love to see a major overhaul to the whole controller/parameter/automation mapping process. Currently it's confusing, temperamental and doesn't work in every situation. You should be able to just map any parameter on any VST to a controller with a couple of clicks, and not have to mess around with separate MIDI tracks, ACT (which is problematic to say the least), configuring effects as synths etc. Whenever I've watched tutorials done in Abelton I've always been struck at how simple and painless it is to map a controller to an effect knob and record the performance. It's such a huge part of modern music production (especially in electronic genres) I always felt that Sonar is a little behind the times in this respect.

YES!!!! I have the same frustrations. I have an AKAI APC40 that I occasionally use for live performances with Ableton, and I'd LOVE to be able to map it in a sensical way for use as a Sonar control surface.

After a LOT of internet trawling (and occasional trolling :), I got some mappings working, but it's still essentially a giant master volume fader for me.
