No time though.

Surfing the web for that final deal?

HA!!  That's the funniest/most ironic post of the month.

I'm a lot stricter with myself these days. I can go months without spending a dime on plugins but when something comes along that's an irresistible deal or a new plugin comes along which does something in a new way that interests me, I will demo it furiously before making the choice. Usually what happens is that if the plugin is good I will quickly start populating projects with multiple instances of it and if I genuinely can't imagine recreating what it does with plugins I already have then the wallet comes out.

In the last 6 months I've only shelled out twice (I think) - once for the Soundtoys bundle on sale because upon demoing them I found them to be absolutely top shelf gear that immediately improved my sound, and once again for xfer's RC-20 retro color plugin, which really is an extremely useful palette of color which I'm using a lot now. There is so much more that I've demoed and passed on.

Friends,

Brought this up because listening to a bunch of YouTube vids of the ancient masters. Guys and groups most of the young have never heard of, but have shaped the nature of what we hear.

Eddie Van on some good morning america program in ragged jeans. Had his axe with a cord going into a small portable and evolving the matrix of Hare Krishna on steroids with nothing added.

Facing the fact that I'm a lousy guitarist. Can hold my own in a studio and mimic most of these guys on demand. Slick and to the nuance, but have only touched the silver rim of mediocrity.

Tried to bury my sound into something signature. Effects, but did not work in the absence of true testosterone driven genius.

Don't know how many others share or are afflicted by this state, Sonar forum or elsewhere out there in the depths of cyberspace..

I've converted to a mindset that states " Everything / anything digital Is Vaporware " EULA's are just rental contracts. Instruments actually make sounds and music. I would buy a piece of hardware any day.

I'm hoping my plug collection will be worth more than I paid for them in 20 years. They are my children's inheritance.

This made me laugh... then I realized I think I'd like to receive your cache of plugs.

Got to go back to my ancient Chinese history to see what these guys did...

Some days I wish I again had all the cash that bought my plugs.

Then I could buy even more plugs.
