  • Drag select bug in X3e? (SOLVED)

I've noticed sometimes when I try to drag select a bunch of tracks it won't select some of them. In the track pane if you click and hold the left mouse button on a number like track 42 and drag the mouse upwards and stop at track 30, it's supposed to select tracks 42-30.

About half the time I try this it gets stuck, like I click and hold 42 and drag upwards and only track 42 is selected. When it does this, I've found that it doesn't matter how many times I try to select 42 and tracks above it, nothing will work, no matter how carefully I click and drag. It's stuck.

The only way I can get this unstuck and fix this is to start dragging around on other tracks for a while and then go back and drag select 42-30 and then it works. It doesn't matter if they're audio tracks or midi tracks or a combination. This behavior can happen on any track at any time. Is there a trick to this? Is this a known bug? Should I report it as a bug?

I created this template from the original X3 template and just copied all the tracks from my old 8.5 template into this new template and made adjustments.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Please install X3E and let us know if you continue to experience the behaviour. Generally it's best to try to reproduce bugs from a brand new project with the latest version before logging. Thanks.

I'm using X3e, (forgot to mention). Yes this is a brand new project started from my custom template that I explained above. I've experienced this on many projects, some started in 8.5.

Ah OK sorry, the thread title says X3A right now.

There's a known issue with this in the Console view related to having tracks in a collapsed folder in the TV, but I've not run into a problem drag-selecting tracks in the TV that I can recall. Are folders possibly involved in this issue as well? As Alex suggested, it will probably be necessary to figure out a sequence of steps that consistently reproduces the issue in order for the Bakers to have any chance of fixing it.

ok I'll turn it in as a bug and include my template. I do have 2 collaspsed folders in my template. I don't involve them in the selection.

Thanks for the tip. I just deleted both collapsed folders in my template and now I can't get the problem to occur again. So it appears that collapsed folders are creating both problems in the TV and Console View. I did put in a bug report also.
