Just another possibility to further confuse and frustrate...

I've seen issues with Melodyne on installs where Windows Update needed to be run to bring all of the patches up to date before the program would install properly.  I don't remember seeing running Windows Update as a recommendation in this thread.  If it was there I am sorry for the duplicate suggestion.

This was done,
Thanks. I'm still searching for an answer. I am going to uninstall create another user as admin and re-install. Cakewalk tech support is going to give it one more shot and remotely connect to my pc tomorrow. I am also goint to install SonarX3 on my desktop and see if Melodyne appears. Using my desktop to record and edit is not a real option to me though, considering the locationa and work area that I have there. To be continued. I have tried everything suggested to me.

Well, This problem could not be solved, other than a complete wipe of my laptop and I am not ready to do that. Cakewalk Support was more than helpful. They remotely connected to my system 3 times trying to assist, but could not come up with an answer except for a clean wipe of my laptop and re-install. I installed X3 Producer on my desktop and no problem with Melodyne. I'll have to run X3 from my desktop if I want access to Melodyne. Thanks for all the ideas and input.

Kudos to Cakewalk support, but I'm sorry you didn't get this resolved. It really sounds as though Melodyne/ARA is depending on some fundamental Windows process that is somehow broken on your system. Good luck, and thanks for keeping us updated.
