  • X3e - Automated Mute [still] Does Not Work...

Greetings All,
Issues with automating the mute button.

I can put the mute button of a track into "Automated Mute" mode, and with "Read Automation" enabled,
the button itself turns on and off - BUT - the track remains silent... muted... if you will...

I can put the mute button back to normal and trigger it with the mouse, and it works just fine an' dandy.

This happened with 8.5, X1 and X2 during older projects for a client, and I just cut up the clip and muted certain clip sections.
Which, I guess I can do for now... but it'd be SO much easier to just automate that dern' mute button...!

Am I missing something here?

Is this a known bug?
... to be fixed in X3f??

Thanks for any input.

Cheers,
MG

I prefer to automate the fader. There is a reason for that preference. I would prefer to bring a track up instead of it snapping on full blown. It could be a shock. Mute I use to keep a track out of the mix completely.

I think it's broken in X3E unless I'm doing something wrong?

STEPS:

New project
Drag in a Wav file and loop it for 1 minute.
Right click mute button and left click "Switch to automated mute".
Click automation write button
Make sure automation read button is selected (on).
Press play
Press mute button several times.
Stop
Playback

WORKS AS EXPECTED.

Must be something more to it; I can't reproduce a problem in X3e. The track unmutes audibly as expected in sync with the automation envelope and mute button status.

I was following the OP too literally. There was an obvious missing step which I have now added in red in my previous post, so it works. Sorry. Hopefully should help the OP anyway.

Hmmm... he wrote that 'with "Read Automation" enabled, the button itself turns on and off'; that wouldn't happen if he hadn't successfully written an automation envelope.
