Each time I open Sonar Xe I am presented with a Dialog Box that asks the question ... "Do You Want to  allow the following program to make changes to your computer" as it refers to "Sonar X3 Studio Patch".  I recall having made no changes to the setup.  The issue just mysteriously raised it's ugly head.

Windows will seek permission to let Sonar run, if you have set Sonar to Run As Administrator.  With Run As Administrator set, you will see the name X3e in the message, because that is now the name of the version of Sonar that is running.
 
This is a normal part of Windows UAC (User Account Control), unless I am missing something, and you just hit Enter to allow it to run.

The old Windows User Account pain in the butt - open Sonar as administrator and it should not happen, or you can change it so that it always opens with Administrator rights and should make the box go away.  I believe (and there are tons of Windows Gurus here that can get you the details) Sonar is trying to access a folder that is restricted, or normally isn't used by applications, so Windows wants to make sure you are cool with it.
If I open Sonar from the Desktop in Windows 8 it opens straight away, but if I click on the tile in the metro interface, I get the dialog box.  just haven't bothered to make it go away!

As far as I can see you ran the Sonar Studio Patch once and  the studio patch will now keep asking you if you want to make changes on the studio patch.
You ran the patch and sonar as administrator and you will always get this message. If you dont allow it it will not save changes you make in Sonar. You can also change when the notification appears as stated on the notification.

Hi Conrad, when you run a program as administrator, this is the default message that pops up to notify the user that you are giving a program authorization to modify files on the machine, not that it is doing so, but that it can. This is a very important safety feature, since inadvertently running a malicious program as administrator can be devastating (will prevent Windows from stopping it).
 
I get this pop-up each time I open X3 as well (as I set it to run as administrator), and it is a safety feature that is built into the operating system to notify me that I have done so. Although this option can be shut off in the "Change when these notifications appear" link in the lower right I highly recommend not doing this. That link is a system-level setting, so "dumbing down" that protection can open the door to something you do not want to run. For X3 specifically, I run as administrator since I do not want my operating system "interdicting SONAR" for any reason and prevent me from making music on my machine... if SONAR needs to do something, the OS should allow it to.
 
That pop-up is just part and parcel with keeping high security on your computer. It really adds very little "overhead" to the operation of the machine, but the security it provides is very important.

Yup - it's the way Windows works, and this behavior is there to protect you, so I do not recommend disabling UAC (User Account Control).
 
Just come to grips with the fact that this is simply how it works and get over it.

It is simply a matter of clicking Yes or hitting the left arrow once and then hitting Enter.  I don't think it's any kind of meaningful negative impact in my life, and I support the UAC protections, I am just not sweating it.
 
In any case, this is a Windows feature, not a Sonar feature, so whatever gripes you have with it should be directed at Microsoft, and not Cakewalk.
