I dont know what you talking about when you refer to Control Bar markers. I right click on Timeline and insert marker. It lets me name it, and then I open Markers window and it let me click on the marker and it moves there.
If you have the Markers Module in your Control Bar and Select any time on the Time Ruler, the Markers Module will show you which Marker you are at but the Markers View won't.
I use Markers to map out the song structure, Examples:
V1-1 = 1st Verse Bar 1
PrC2-3 = 2nd Pre Chorus Bar 3
I1-4 = 1st Intro Bar 4
C4-7 = 4th Chorus Bar 7
PoC5-9 = 5th Post Chorus Bar 9
B1-6 = 1st Bridge Bar 6
So If I click on the Time Ruler or stop playback bc I hear something that needs to be changed, the Markers Module lets me know what part in the song I'm at but the Markers View doesn't. It would be more productive for me to use the Markers View bc it's scrollable with my mouse and touchscreen and easier to select Markers from than the Markers Module bc it's not scrollable with my mouse or touchscreen.
Also, If I'm working from my laptop, I can't fit too many things on the Control Bar bc it doesn't wrap view and each Module isn't undockable like they used to be in older versions of Cakewalk ProAudio and SONAR.
Here's an example of my current workflow:
- I'm in Track View
- I hear a mistake and stop playback
- I look at the Markers Module to see where I'm at in the song, lets say C3-2
- I hit Alt+Shift+4 to bring up the Markers View or I hit D if it's already in the MultiDock
- I go to the Markers View, select C1-2 and compare, select C2-2 and compare, then go back to C3-2 and make my edits
