Some of the Cakewalk supplied effects don't show up in my 8.5. The .dll files are in the program files(x86)/cakewalk/shared plugins directory, but not when I open Cakewalk and look under tools/cakewalk plug-in manager in the directx audio effects. Anyne have any ideas as to how I can get them to show up without re-installing?

Thanks.

In the plug in manager is a search options where you can add folders to the scan pathway. This has always worked for me. There is weirdness that happens when you have 64 and 32 bit plug ins. Are you using 64 bit?

StudioVerb2 is a 32bit DX effect. If you are running 64bit SONAR, the 32bit DX effects will not show up or work in it. Only the DX effects which have been ported to 64bit will work in 64bit SONAR. The 64bit DX effects install in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins"

How can you tell what?
The version of windows if new will most likely be 64 bit, this is easy to find out in control panel/ system.
Your version of Sonar?  well you installed it, so did you choose 32 or 64 bit?
On windows 7 64 bit  Below the desktop icon will say- Sonar 8.5 (64bit)
I am not sure if that would show if I installed the 32 bit version in W7,  but I would assume it would.
On my windows XP 32 bit laptop it doesn't have the (32bit) in the text below the icon.

Thank you, yes  which Sonar version. And as I did think about it for a moment, I realize that I remember choosing the 64 bit. Confirmed by the bit under the icon. Thanks, lots of questions are now answered.

Ya it's funny that without the icon, there is actually no way to look in Sonar's menu's and see which one it is. Any how,, I guess you know why a 32 bit plug in is missing now.
One thing you can do is install the 32 bit version of Sonar as well,, but you would have to be very careful not mix up the icons. What I did was install Sonar 7 32 bit just in case I needed to work on something 32 bit.. in the end every 32 bit project ran fine under 8.5 / 64 bit. Most all of the 32 bit plug ins I have run under bit bridge.
I just opened a old Home Studio project from 2005 in X3 studio.. all the plug ins were missing but what I use now is better so no biggy.
