  • MIDI Problem - Hit Record, Play Nothing and Watch Notes Get Recorded!!

Hello Everyone,

I seem to have caused an issue in a project and I don't know how to reverse it.  Here is what happens.

I insert a new MIDI track.  I arm the track, hit record and don't play a single note.   I am literally watching notes get recorded for me, and it is notes recorded in another track already!!!   But the track that the notes are coming from are playing just fine.   The output is set for it's appropriate soft synth.  The input of the track recording these ghost notes is just my MIDI controller.

Something is seriously wrong with the routing.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

To add to this... this only happens WHILE RECORDING!   While playing, it is not pulling notes from a previous track.  ONLY when I record!   This is beyond strange.

Could you take a screen print and post it on the thread. I normally use Facebook, rather than Photobucket or other such image sites. The latter are better quality, so often you need to edit the picture (Microsoft paint does the job). In Facebook I have an album titled Sonar, with the privacy set to 'Only Me'.

Make sure to specify the proper MIDI input on the new track and/or make sure the previous VSTi plug-ins do not have "Enable MIDI output" enabled.

Hello Scoot,

This would be more of a video to show what's happening, and i dont have video capture software.  Basically notes from another track are being recorded in another midi track lol.

Thanks,
Adam

In X3, if a plug-in can send MIDI, it will be enabled by default in the "Insert Soft Synth Options" dialog.

Hello Scoot,

Yeah I don't have capture software either, but a picture still shows how you are set up and gives a better picture than a description, especially as if you are overlooking something, then you are likely not to describe it. Luckily Scook relies mainly on the gift ESP.
