I kinda doubt it but need to ask:
Okay, I know it's convenient to click and drag a note's duration all at the same time but for me I find myself (since I first got X2) clicking to set the now time at a certain spot and placing a note there (and then have to delete the note and then clicking again to set the now time at that point)...as many times as I've told myself to slow down and stop the mouse before clicking I keep doing it and wondering if this is some kind of option that can be changed.
Thanks very much,
Randy

Have you tried using the EDIT tool instead of the SMART tool?

AFAIK I do not think this can be shut off (but may be wrong). Another alternative is to click on the time ruler itself when moving the now time; since even if the "mouse is in motion" as you say, it won't draw a note on you.

I don't think the binding can be removed and was going to suggest clicking on the timeline instead of the Note Pane. Otherwise keep the other hand over CTRL and Z.

You're right, the edit tool won't put in an unintentional note but I need to put in a note(s) usually and switching back and forth with the tool bar would (for me at least) be slower than me to just make sure my mouse isn't moving when I click.

I should have mentioned that when I've tried that before I wound up either making a short selection or highlighting the whole track I'm working on.
I actually use the feature and very much appreciate it I was just thinking there may be an adjustment somewhere in prefs so that it wasn't quite so sensitive.
I'll just try to slow down and deal with it.
Thanks very much guys,
Randy

I usually just right click the note and then left click in the same area but that does sound a little faster... I'll try to get used to keep my other hand hovering ctrl z

The adjustments to the mouse are made in windows. Might want to try there.

I wonder why you need to bother clicking to set the now time and it led me to create this thread:

That's what I usually end up doing... some tools won't let you click the Now Time in the main window.
