Hey guys, thanks.

So, as my transition from Pro Tools to X2 Producer continues I've decided to make a template of audio tracks that I'm familiar with (which is old school)...a basic 16 audio tracks template named for what I normally do. I also, have 4 busses. Master, Lead Vox, Back Vox, Drums etc, and all of that is assigned and working like I'm used to...
I do not have any midi tracks loaded...so here's what I need to figure out

I have a slew of already finished cwp and/or midi files (format 1) that I want to import to start adding audio to...
1. How do I bring in a full cwp file into "this" audio template?
What I'm getting now...If I try to open (file>open) a cwp file from inside the template I just created...it opens the cwp file in a new project. Since I have no midi tracks loaded...the import midi (file>Import>midi) isn't highlighted so that's not available...

Thanks

Could you save what you currently have set up in this Project Template as a Track Template?

Then, when you open one of the existing projects up, you could insert from that saved TRACK template, and bring in all of that other stuff that way?

Please note I do not know that the above would work - it just seems like it might.  I have a whole bunch of audio tracks and a midi track and a bus created as a TRACK template.  It even has an instance of Battery 3 with a custom kit pre-loaded, and all the audio tracks are contained in a track folder for drums, and all the audio tracks output to the drums bus.

My point being is that if I could get that complicated with my Drums track template, I don't see why you couldn't do the same thing with whatever it is you want to pull in with your track template.

Give it a shot and post back,

Open both cwp files - you may need to change a setting to allow this - then drag all the tracks from one to th other?

Open your audio template project, insert a midi track, then import the midi file. Set the output of the imported midi data to whatever synth you want to play it

Thank you all.
I figured it out...with your help...
Since there are more than 1 midi/cwp tracks I'm importing...doing them (copy and pasting) 1 track at a time would be way too much work...So as suggested I added 1 midi track into the audio template...highlited it...then opened up a second cwp file that has all the midi work and copy and pasted all those tracks to the 1 highlited midi track I added to the main audio template. It pasted all of my work into the audio template in all the separate tracks needed. I now have an audio template specific to me and a way to import all my exising sequences into that so I can get my audio work recorded...sweet...thanks
