I like the color customization in X3 but I can't imagine anyone wanting the color to change when increasing/decreasing the velocity.
It's hard for me to tell what's what with a bunch of tracks open...is there a way to turn that part off?
I was poking around in prefs but couldn't find anything.
Thanks very much,
Randy

I've always liked that feature, if you're talking about the color intensity of the note bar varying in the PRV.

Well maybe this will explain my issue...I just set up a template for all strings (violin, viola, cello and bass).
The colors are all shades of blue (light blue being violin down to dark blue being bass).
Working on a string arrangement and bringing the velocity of say a violin up to a certain point makes the color exactly the same as say the viola (not the intensity of it's color but the color itself changes) to where they are the same color.
Are we talking about the same thing?

I decided to bump this because I'm obviously missing something here or I would find other threads on my issue.
I can see this wouldn't be a problem (and be a nice feature) when working with a single track but how do you guys work with several tracks at a time (ie a strings arrangement)?
Is my only solution to make all the strings very different colors so that I can see one track as different shades of that particular color?
If I need to see the changes in velocities of an instrument I look at the controller pane (and usually draw in those changes in the controller lane).
So I guess my question is, how do you guys work with multiple tracks in PRV...otherwise is there no way I can turn off this feature?
Thanks for your patience,
Randy

I totally understand your point, and if I were you I'd submit a feature request. Most of velocity values in my project are between 80-120 and that's why I've never seriously suffered from the issue.

Interesting...a feature request to get rid of a feature : )
Well thanks for the suggestion Jlien I'll do that but in the meantime I would think there is a workaround (surely others work with large dynamic ranges)...if not I suppose I'll just continue to pick a very opposite color when working on a line.
Thanks very much for your input Jlien,
Randy

Set PRVColorizeVelocity=0 under Preferences > Files > Initialization File (goes in in the [WinCake] section of Cakewalk.ini).

Thanks for posting this, brundlefly.

(Why didn't you chime in sooner? )

I posted as soon as I saw it and could look up the exact parameter name. It's worth going through the Initialization File section of the Reference Guide to see what else you might want to adjust.

Tried that twice in the past and gave up on both occasions (it was a little too difficult for me but I'll try it once again in the near future). Wish Cakewalk had the right to make the Japanese version of Sonar manuals available from their site.
