Using Sonar to export video is a huge waste of time. I have a secondary computer for going on-line and other things that i use to generate video files. So I export a stereo mix and drop it into Vegas and use vegas to create a Quicktime file. All on the other computer. It is way more effecient. I spend more time on my DAW.
Normally I send exported mixes to our video editor and he lays back the audio to video. Once in a while I need to send an approval file to a client & he may be tied up, which is why I've had occasion to export video from Sonar. I'd hate to buy Vegas just for that, but if there's a lower cost solution that does a nice job, that may be a good option (until Sonar does it better).
QuickTime Pro is a program you can add audio with. If you are working with picture often QT Pro is something you should have anyway. Many times I have gotten a crazy project that Only QT Pro could playback. It has saved me many times.
Also as mentioned earlier, Vegas comes in many cheaper, lite versions. infact i think I origininally purchased a $19.99 version and used it for a long time. The lite version i use now is here:
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiope I use this version because it will burn in Time Code. The cheaper version will work just fine. I like Vegas because it acts just like an audio program and if you register on line they give you an account allowing you to dload your version anytime...just like Cake does for Sonar
