Holy ___!  Freezing those piano parts seems to have done the trick for me.  It worked.  My drums disapeared when i opened in Audition

I deleted the two unused synths from the Synth stack (dimension and Rapture) and tried to export the first 32 bars with synths frozen and still "OMFI_ERR:Failed a semantic check on an input data"

So, in a nut shell I can't export an OMF even from the Demo project both as reference and embedded, OMf 1 or OMF 2.

All hosts handle OMF differently. The OMF format only supports the exchange of audio data.  Even basic mixing data won't translate correctly. While it's called a standard, it really isn't.

"OMFI_ERR: Mob does not exist in this file" and "OMFI_ERR:Failed a semantic check on an input data" errors are more wide spread than SONAR. Logic and DP users get the same thing:

I'll look and see if we have any specs on this, but I haven't seen any personally, ever.

Seth, yes thank you for your vague answer, I have seen all of these.

Dub and I have painfully gone through some beta for you on this thread and pretty much come up with the same results (until he comes back online I cant confirm fully)

In my experience from last year, which was outputting 7 short films plus one feature, I never had an issue importing an OMF from FCP/Permiere or PT into Sonar yet every single time I output a timeline of audio from Sonar I get the above errors?

I seriously want to help here! Closing my case and giving me external issues with OMF on other platforms seems to me to be running away from the issue.

Please dont make me say this...BUT...I created a test project today in PT 10 and exported with fades and it worked..... Final Cut Pro can export and OMF, Premiere can....

Sigh...

Therefore...Close my case then, but you are closing the case on multi platform post production audio film work from out of Sonar, for me...thats a massive shame.

My gosh I am fully aware about the multi standards involved as well. OMF's are GHASTLY!!!!

We all know this, but surely a better answer from you guys????

Great!!! I have to start using Pro Tools for all my film work....Well....

This makes me massively depressed... I recently spoke at the Barbican in London at the London Animation Film Festival and spoke intensively to up and coming Sound Post guys about how great Sonar is in a seminar I chaired on the importance of sound in animation....

How Embarrassing is that for me now?

I didn't close that bug report so please don't try to direct it at me. I actually took the time to look into this for you.

I've finally located a 2.1 spec document for it and it dates back to 1997. I'll take a look at it further.

Ok, thanks Seth...

Its just an untimely event that happened with your post on the forum and an email I got then.

One hopes we can all work together to get to the bottom of this and help move Sonar onwards and upwards.

I fully appreciate the evils of OMF's btw... I could swear for China on this matter but the forum would asterisk my superlatives.

I was able to get that project to export as OMF.  Not 100% what extra step i took to get it to work. When i noticed the individual drum parts had already been bounced, I deleted all the midi files.

I don't know if any of this is a bug so much as a shortcoming of OMF.  I tried exporting some OMF files from Logic last night on a project with lots of tracks, automation and busses and got errors galore too.  As I said previously, I have just used OMF to export projects that were pretty much tracking with very minor edits like trimming and fades. I have run into similar problems trying to do the equivalent with video projects.  I usually end up rendering out the equivalent of stems because all but the most basic EDL data crashes.
