My question  remains ... "Isn't it a no-brainer to incorporate cut, copy and paste features into Sonar and avoid the hassle of going to another piece of software to do it?"!

It's not impossible, but it's certainly not a no-brainer.

And in that spirit, my favorite way to get Noel upset is to suggest some feature, and then say "hey, it's just a few lines of code."

+1 to the Sony Vegas/SoundForge suggestion.  I recently purchased the "older version" of Vegas Studio (version 11) on Amazon for about $35, and it came with SoundForge and some other goodies.  It is an excellent, full featured editor that allows me to cut visuals to music, and manipulate music to fit visuals.  With X3 Producer, Vegas, and SoundForge I feel that I finally have a complete, powerful set of tools for creating music and video.

Thanks for the great suggestion.  I bought the package! But, you know what?  It was $35.95 plus shipping!!   What I saw originally online was a $499 package ... a little rich for a poor old retired fella on  fixed income. So the older version at 40 bucks, and change through Amazon, I'm happy!

Maybe I should rephrase.  it's not impossible to incorporate the features into Sonar, but if it was such a no-bainer everyone would have done it a long time ago.  Even the one DAW (and I use that term loosely) that succeeded chose to abandon any pretense of being  DAW and went all-in as a video editor.  You would think if anyone would give it a go it would be a company like Avid that makes both the "industry" standard video editor and DAW.  Avid has better video capabilities than Sonar but the features still aimed at going between two programs.  Even suites that somewhat streamline the process are often running multiple programs.  Adobe's dynamic link is simply opening several programs at once and switching focus as needed.  I think I would even prefer that approach (Sonar , developing or purchasing a video editor that dynamically connects to sonar) to them making a clumsy attemtp at having audio programmers try to force features outside of their area of expertise.

My hope is that it'll nevertheless work with Win 8 (which is an Operating System I am less than pleased with ... fact is ... I hate it).  Otherwise I will  need to revert to my the ASUS CM1630 that  has a 64 bit version Win 7 OS.

In PT11HD you can edit video, plus you can have more than one video track. They have revamped the whole video engine.

(Not advertising PT, just sayin')

Have not used PT11 so forgive my error.  I tried video in previous versions and was underwhelmed .  Then again, I have never been a fan of Avid.

Not a fan of Avid either, but PT11 is a dream for "checkerboarding" my sound cues/stems (sync'd to video)...then sending to the editors in one package. This way I know 100% it will open correctly for them. Tried this in Sonar (saving as OMF), but it never works right on the other end. I highly recommend PT11 for anyone scoring to picture that needs to be compatible in then industry. Not for creating the cues, but delivery.

I have had mixed results with OMF.  It always seems to come down to how much editing was done in the other program.
