Yes, but releasing ALT then releasing CTRL plays the note and leaves it stuck on.

Not for me. IF I press and hold Ctrl + Alt, the press space, the sound plays, and if I release Alt then Ctrl, it just goes back to previous event.

Is this in X2a or X3e? Both?

And, more importantly, I cannot use Event List to edit note events that were in clips created by Step Sequencer.

I want to help but.....I must confess that I'm not confident in using Step Sequencer (only used it once). Sounds familiar? Yes, my SS is your PRV, Bob.

Well, you are actually releasing Space Bar, then releasing Alt, then releasing CTRL.

The documentation does not include the release of Space Bar, and if you hold that and do the other releases, the note sticks on.

As an English learner, I wonder if "press" (in step #3) also means "hold down"...

Yup, Jlien - PRV is my Waterloo.  :)

And, @scook - I wanted to avoid converting the clips - did think of that, just did not want to do it.

Again, I wrote a CAL script to do what I wanted, so I am all set - just posting the issue as an observation.

Thanks to all,

Jlien X
As an English learner, I wonder if "press" (in step #3) also means "hold down"...

No it doesn't Jlien. It means just momentarily.

Let me try to explain:
1.
Press and hold down Ctrl
Press and hold down Alt
Press space bar once (momentarily)
Result= sound plays.

2.
Press and hold down Ctrl
Press and hold down Alt
Press and hold space bar (for a few seconds)
Result= that note plays all the way through. It will decay naturally. As in a Piano note. Or if it's a synth note and needs some time to develop you will be able to hear it.

3.
Press and hold down Ctrl
Press and hold down Alt
Press space bar once (momentarily)
Result= sound plays. Highlighted area advances.
Now release the Alt key
Result= The highlight moves back to the area you were just at. Press Enter and you can adjust/modify.

Now having said all that , Bob this may be intended behavior. But I can see how you would think it's stuck. Hell it may be, I'm just thinking that it's doing what it's suppose to do.

Well, I mean that the sound being stuck is that it will keep on playing for far longer than the original duration of the note event.  I always stop it after a few seconds, so I do not know if it eventually decays or not, but it certainly plays WAY longer than the note should have played in the first place.

Bob I'm thinking that the synth gets a note on command, but no note off command.
